We travel RCI timeshare all the time with a group and kids. This place was great. There were not many preplanned kid things, but our teenagers loved walking the strip and hanging out. The pools were good sized( no jacuzzi though). We loved the basketball court and played almost everyday. There is a city park up the stree about 3 block. You can cookout, play basketball, baseball, swing or just toos the frisbee around. Gatlingburg is the place to make your own fun. Like I said, there is not a lot at the resort, but you are just steps awasy from all the action. The only time we used the car was to go shopping in Pigeon Forge and to check out Dollywood, which was great too. Good staff and decent aminities. This is not 5 star, but very nice. We bought in Orlando at Summer Bay and this one is almost as nice. One negative: the elevators need to be a little faster! :-) You had to wait on them, but we took the stairs most of the time for exercise. Have a great time! We will be back!

We also booked through RCI and were told we would be staying in a "resort" with an indoor and outdoor pool, laundry, games for the kids, hot tub etc. When we got there we were told the main resort area was overbooked and that we would be going down the block to stay at The Gatlinburg Village Resort. I was nervous after reading the reviews on here. There was a good size outdoor pool, but it was not in the greatest shape, and very cold. The rooms were ok sized but were very outdated and smelled like smoke even though they were suppose to be non smoking. There was a ref and microwave which was nice, but our sink leaked in the bathroom. The beds were horrible, so hard you could bounce quarters on them. My son slept on the couch he was so uncomfortable. We had no ice machine as it was broken. When I asked where we could get ice they told me there was a general store right down the block or we could walk down the hill (my mother and I are borth handicapped) to the other resort. My son was very upset that we did not have the amentities we were promised unless we "walked down the hill". Needless to say we would not book here again.

We just finished our weekend & I must say I encountered some of the rudest people ever.When we tried to check in it was to early & we were told by a young man with a bag of chips up to his mouth to come back later.We asked what time would be the earliest we could check in (we were fine with not checking in early & would go downtown).We were told we booked through hotels.com(we used expedia) we need to check our ageement with them.We came back at 3:00 & was told we could not check in until 4:00. Ok they could have said that earlier.At 4:00 we went back & they would "check to see if we could check in yet".We finally got checked in & what a let down.Our bathroom had a toilet seat that was painted - why not buy a new one,our veiw was looking into the loading dock of the hotel next door.Indoor pool was locked (2:00 in afternoon) Tried to get someone to help & was told must be kids playing jokes,,didnt get to use that,outdoor pool area across in next building very small & good luck getting a lounge chair. This is not a RESORT.Dont be fooled.

We booked a week through RCI as a time share and expected it to be of the same quality as others we stayed at. It is not. I am writing this from the resort. The "room", a studio, is tacky. This isn't like others we have seen. The kitchen - pots wobble, oven burns, sink leaks. Pool - no chairs, one umbrella, plain cement. View - street and electric wires. Bed is three inches from the air conditioner unit - stiff neck anyone? The cost for the Internet, which doen't always work, is high considering all the places around here advertise free wifi. There are three parts to the "resort" - the main one and then two that are up the city streeet. Guess where I am. Oh, they also will give you a :$25 gift certificate to use at Friday's, Cracker Barrel...". The card cannot be used at a restaurant. You have to go online for the certificate. Those restaurants are not included and you need to print the certififcate. On what printer? Mary forgot to mention that.
