Spent 7 nights at this hotel and was fine, but, noisy. Our room was on one of the top floors. The sound of the elevator was annoying. The decor is plain to say the least.
I liked this hotel because of its location. The free breakfast was good. Wifi was maddening in the room, connecting was like playing a slot machine. But, no problems in the lobby.
The hotels' restaurant is outstanding and staff is great.
The bottom line is the hotel is perfect for location and a bed. There are several other hotels in this area and worth looking into.
I would stay in this hotel again, but, only if it's the best price out of hotels in this area.

My husband travels all over the world for business and I frequently accompany him. Buenos Aires is my favorite city in South America but the Hotel Cabremon leaves a lot to be desired. My husband and I were very surprised at the high ratings it receives. Yes, it is close to Florida Street and the WiFi is free but that is where the positives end. The paper-thin walls allow your fellow patrons to share their staying experience with you - the opening/closing/slamming of doors, the ringing of telephones, the crying of children and the hummming and clanking of the elevator - and our corner room was the furthest away from the elevator. Mind you, this goes on into the wee hours, with the late-night lifestyle in Buenos Aires. It is not the noise from the city - it is the noise from this hotel! If you value quiet and comfort in your hotel room, pass on the Hotel Cabremon.

Is there another Cambremon in BsAs???!!!

August 19th was my first visit to Buenos Aires. I chose Hotel Cambremon because of the positive reviews on this site, because I was able to get a reasonable rate on the net and because I would be arriving in BsAs late that evening. I reserved an Executive Suite online, guaranteed with my credit card, with a footnote requesting "2 beds, if possible, please!". I got my confirmation letter from Venere and was content with my reservation.
I arrived in BsAs via the buquebus ferry from Colonia. On arrival at the port, taxis are there at your service. Because we were tired we broke the rules and ended up paying US$7 for a journey that would cost at most A$10. At 1:3 you figure! You however, can be more prepared. Take only taxis that use meters. Don't bargain with the cab driver. Let the meter speak for itself. If the cab doesn't have a meter find one that does. Have some pesos on you. If you don't, I'm sure the hotel will be willing to change SMALL US notes so that you can pay your cab fare, having taken it to the hotel. You really have nothing to lose. In retrospect, that is what we should have done...maybe! Anyway back to Hotel Cambremon......
I did not like the environs and did not feel safe, but from outside the lobby appeared safe and neat, albeit tiny compared to what had been advertised. I was anxious to get inside. The young man at the desk spoke English. I gave him my name and he stated my reservation for a double room with two single beds. Pardon me??!! I corrected him: an Executive Suite with two double beds is what was requested. I pulled out my copy of the confirmation letter. He said he didn't need it as he had a copy, but Venere had phoned to say that he was to CANCEL the suite and provide a room with two beds. Yea, right! I told him that that could not be possible. What cost was I expected to pay for the double room? How was I supposed to sleep on a single bed? I was not even aware those existed in hotels. I thought twins were the smallest! He didnt know and he didnt care, but he did let me know that he didnt have a suite booked for me and he only had one available room with two SINGLE beds, that I could go and try to find accommodation elsewhere, that he wouldn't charge my credit card but he was not sure what Venere would do. I asked to speak with the Manager. He said that he was the Manager for that night.
By this time I was livid. If you had cut me there, you would not have seen a drop of blood! I sat in the tiny lobby (disgusted with myself for having booked this apparently God-forsaken hotel) and reviewed my situation. All my hotels had been prebooked to avoid this very situation. I had already passed my cancellation deadline. If I left then I could incur a penalty. I would be there for only one night, it was already very late in the evening and worse it was raining...just deal with it and make the best of a bad situation. Half hour later I was checking in.
Seeing how upset I was, the 'night manager' suggested that I speak with the Manager in the morning, as he was charging me the same rate for the room with the two single beds as that for the Executive Suite. I couldn't believe it. And to top it all off, the rate did not include tax..21% more. By now I was blind! I had prebooked 12 hotels for my stay throughout South America, and Cambremon was the only one where I had to pay an additional tax. All other hotel rates included the tax. I felt it was a dishonest strategy of the hotel and just another way to obtain more money.
A young man approached us to assist with the suitcases but I heard nothing that he said. On entering the room there were 3 single beds, not 2. The young man kept talking but I was not listening, neither was I interested. The room was adequate for two but couldnt comfortably accommodate 3 people and their suitcases. I headed for the bathroom. The shower was huge, at an odd angle and reminded me of a sepulcre. I wondered how clean it was, because it was so long and the plumbing was on the short wall. It could never be properly cleaned without the person becoming soaking wet.
I did not want to be in the room for longer than I had to and so we took a cab to dinner at El Palacio de Papas Fritas. The fries (souffle) I felt was overrated but the lomo was good. The restaurant seemed to be a popular spot for persons of all ages. Everyone except me seemed to be having a good time.
We walked around to get our bearings and then we returned to the hotel.
We had breakfast early the next morning. The layout was very attractive and there was a lot of variety. I however didn't have much of an appetite. After breakfast we spoke with the other Manager. He was apologetic and offered to let us have the suite then. I wondered how, since the rude night manager had only one available room when we were checking in. We informed him that we would be checking out shortly. He was quite nice and agreed to hold our bags while we explored the city on foot. He removed the tax as compensation for our trouble. Big deal! The figure was still more than what had been quoted online for a double or triple room after we included the 21%tax. We just paid and tried to forget them. After all, later we would be heading to the Caesar Park.
I contacted Venere. Their only response was that they hope the problem was sorted out and looked forward to doing business with me again. As if! Would I return to Cambremon? Now you just have got to be kidding! Not even if it were for free.
For your first night in BsAs, please, make sure it is not Cambremon!

We stayed at the Cambremon for June 29th through July 5th. Its a great hotel, just small enough for personal attention and service yet large enough with hotel amenities (ie, free wireless internet access within the rooms or in the business center with printing, GREAT HUGE hot breakfast buffet including eggs, sausage, meat rolls, emapanadas, sandwiches, fruit, croissants/pastries, desserts like flan, bread pudding, cakes, etc etc etc of course different juices, chocolate/white milk, tea, coffee, etc thats included; a restaurant with room service, concierge services, decent english speaking staff, etc etc). The rooms were huge (about 10 by 15 feet, not including the walkway and bathroom) and looked exactly like the pictures in their website so I didn't bother posting any of my pics. We peeked into several other rooms and it looks like the hotel did a nice job of posting up all the different "versions" of rooms. Our bathroom was a pretty good size and had a huge shower (about 3 feet by 6 feet) though it had no tub, but it does have a toilet, sink, and bidet. The bathroom had these beautiful black tiles with gold gilding on them and black tiles floors with marble looking tiled walls. It also comes with a good sized frigo bar and HUGE closets!!!! You also get a desk, a table with 2 chairs. Cons: not too good insulation so we can easily hear people coming in and out of rooms next to us and the vacuum cleaner did wake us up several mornings...though we were still in bed at 10am...not quite used to the late Argentinian dinners. Also, I did specifically ask for a quieter room on a higher floor and we were given a corner room on the 7th floor. I'm not sure how noisy it is on the lower floors, given the proximity to the busy streets. The not-so-great insulation was the only "problem" we found with the place. Its located in the Microcenter, which means its smack dab in the middle of Buenos Aires (with Recoleta and Palermo to the north, and San Telmo, La Boca and Puerto Madero to the south. Its about 2-3 blocks from Florida St (GREAT shopping shopping and shopping!), Santa Fe Ave (shopping), Gallerias Pacifica (More shopping), one block from Avenue 9 de Julio, a stone's throw away from the Obelisk and Teatro Colon, and within walking distance to Casa Rosada. Actually, we like to walk and found that walking to San Telmo took only about 20 minutes or so. For the location, the free wireless internet, the microfridge, the free $10-$15 dollar equivalent breakfast buffet, the huge rooms...its probably going to be one of the biggest bangs for your buck in BA.
