We have stayed at this particular hotel in the past, and while it may not be a 5 star hotel - the friendly and helpful staff always made our stay an enjoyable one. Sadly, the level of customer service provided by the staff has gone from a 10 out of 10 to a 0.
When we first arrived to check-in we found the front desk deserted. After waiting for a good 5 minutes (all the while listening to the hotel switchboard ring), the front desk clerk strolled up the hallway and went behind the desk without so much as a smile or hello as he walked in front of us.
He very curtly asked me if I had a reservation, to which I replied that I did have a reservation and had my confirmation number if he needed it. Without looking up from his computer he said "nope, what's your name?" I gave him my name, registered and was handed a key card to my room with zero conversation from the clerk. I asked if it he could direct me to my room and was told "down the hall to your right."
Upon entering the room we were taken aback by a strong smell of mildew. My wife stated there was no way she could spend a night with the smell, so we proceded back to the desk and asked to change rooms. Without even asking why we wanted to change rooms the clerk stated he had a room right across the hall and gave us new keys. The room across the hall was a riverside room, and I assume the view would have been preferable to looking out at the parking lot from our first room, I say "assume" due to the fact that the windows do not open and were so covered with dirt and condesation between the 2 panes that it was impossible to see outside. Unfortunatley, this room smelled very heavily of smoke, so back to the desk we went again. Trying to be pleasant with the clerk, I smiled and said "you will soon be tired of seeing us." Without even cracking a smile he stood at the counter and said nothing until we said, the room smells of smoke. We were moved to another room with 1 king size bed - and while this room did smell fine - the decor and maintenance of the room left much to be desired. The door to our room was painted with a dull flat paint and was scratched up terribly (hardly a good first impression), the furniture was most likely fairly decent in its day, but was well worn to put it kindly, and the wallpaper looked as though a 6 year old had hung it. But the room did smell fine, so although not overjoyed with the accommodations, we were satisfied to stay the night.
We decided to head down to the restaurant for supper and again stood at the hostess station for what now seemed like an eternity with no server in sight. Finally my wife said "does nobody work in the place?" at which point a server came around the corner and seated us.
The meal was bland at best, with a very poor plate presentation and we had to, not once but twice wave our server over to our table to ask for more wine and a dessert menu. The server it seemed, was more interested in sitting at a table with some of the other restaurant guests, than actually working.
As I said, we've stayed at this hotel in the past (before the name change) and were never treated so poorly by the staff. Without the customer service, the little things that we've overlooked in the past - no pool, no fitness room, dark rooms, no water pressure from the shower, etc etc, were much harder to ignore.
With some customer service training, a proper renovation and a good cleaning (that issue is a whole other story), this hotel could have potential, but as it now stands I would definitely not return.

Loved the location. It's right on the river. Though it was winter, it was beautiful. I can imagine what it would be like in summer. I will certainly stay in this hotel each time I visit Miramichi. The rooms are newly renovated, clean. The food at the restaurant was outstanding. The service was also very good.

I stayed at the Park Inn and Suites Miramichi in September 2007 with my wife for 4 nights. The hotel was newly renovated our room was modern and very clean. We were upgraded to a room overlooking the beautiful Miramichi River by one of the most pleasant front desk agent I have ever met. The restaurant/bar served a wonderful and very inexpensive breakfast. We did not have any dinners in the restaurant due to visiting friends. I will definitely return to the Park Inn and recommend this hotel to all my friends.

My husband and I stayed at the The Wharf Inn in Miramichi from July 28 to August 5 2006. This is the second year in a row that we have stayed there. Although the rooms may not be 5 star they are comfortable and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. We especially like the fact that the inn has its own restaurant with an outside patio right on the water front. The restaurant staff are great, very accomadating, friendly and helpful. Although the service can be a little slow when they are busy the food is great, the view is wonderful and the staff terrific. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
