After reading the poor review of this hotel I felt compelled to give my review. I stayed here with an Insight tour group of Spain and Portugal. The room was extremely clean and believe me I inspected every corner. The breakfast which was included with the tour was very good and the front desk staff was efficient, if not overly friendly. The location is good being so close to the beautiful Retiro park. There are many cafes and good shopping in the area. I would stay here again and I'm pretty darn picky.

This hotel is in a fantastic location, and this is the only reason I can see that they get away with cahrging ~?150 per night (excl. breakfast) for their basic rooms. The hotel itself is OK but nothing special. The bar is basic and has no atmosphere whatsoever. The breakfast is again acceptable, but nothing to write home about. My room was perfectly acceptable (and clean) though being on the 1st floor and at the front of the hotel, there was some traffic noise.

Room was very basic, bathroom could do with a good bleach Walls paper thin - could hear next door's TV easily Reception staff not overly helpful, quite dismissive attitude Breakfast chaotic, only one person serving trying to do tea/ coffee, take room numbers and replenish buffet! Not a great recommendation bar it's in a good location so if it's near what you want it does the job adequately.

Efectivamente, no vale la pena por el precio que pagas. Es bien cierto que su situación es cómoda, pegado al barrio de Salamanca y en una gran arteria siempre con taxis pasando y a 5 minutos de la boca demetro. Pero las instalaciones son obsoletas, pequeñas, de mediocre decoración y muy baja calidad de equipamiento de cama, cortinas, etc... He visto que esta vez han cambiado los viejísimos televisores por unos plasmas... mejor invierten en aislar un poco las habitaciones, que se oye hasta el ruido del inodoro de cinco habitaciones a lo largo... Si quieres pagar este precio y obtener calidad vete a otro de los ocho o diez que hay alrededor... Renovarse o morir...

I stayed here for 2 nights recently. The hotel staff was rude, the room was dirty with hair and food on the floor and in the bed, the breakfast was NOT included and outrageously expensive (a great breakfast at a fraction of the cost can be found directly across the street in a cafe), wireless internet service is NOT included, irons are NOT available (but you can get ironing done by their service for the low price of 5 euros per shirt!). All this low quality for only 170+euros per night! Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed, felt completely ripped off, and will never be staying in an NH hotel again.
