Stayed for a week with my wife at the end of June, and here are my views:
Stairs - due to Kervan being on a slope, Reception (at ground level) is on the 2nd floor. Pool & restaurant (at the back of the hotel) is on the ground floor, so wherever your room is, you will have to 'do' stairs. However, the hotel is no skyscraper (4 storeys I think) so we're not talking a great deal if you are fit & able.
Card system - worked great for us, the bill was correct, a good idea. Reading reviews on other hotels in the same area, this seems the norm.
Safety deposit box & air conditioning - highly recommend you do pay for these. Together they work out at ?50 a week or ?25 a person. Most hotels in Turkey charge you, so just allow for it as you will appreciate being able to excape the heat , trust me! I did hear a rumour while out there that if you go half board, aircon is included. Don't take my word for it, but might be worth looking into?
Hotel food - Recent reviewers liked it, my wife & I wouldn't totally agree. It was OK, but you can get better food cheaper at the local restaurants.
Staff & cleanliness - as others have said, spot on.
Location - didn't actually think we could have done much better. Site town is an easy walk in the evening (can get hot during the day), and a short walk to the beach. It's worth noting that the beach where all the watersports etc are starts at roughly near the Kervan and then goes away from the town.
Finally, I was dissappointed when I first saw our room as it looked very small, but as the week went on, it caused us no problems. Also, the showers may seem feeble at first, but do the job - you don't want a power shower out there, just a slightly warm shower to cool off and have a quick wash.
Other points to note on the resort -
The resort is popular with Germans, and also Russians. We didn't find this a problem, but what it does mean is that they are still learning to speak English, and while this caused us no translational problems, many Turkish people genuinely want to improve their English and will talk to you lots which is quite nice. (Don't confuse this with the talk they do to entice you into their restaurant - some just want your business and can get tediuos) Also, there are many tours offered - we went on a boat trip which was good, but German is the first language for the commentary - again, no big problem, but it spoils any jokes that are coming!
Prices - still cheap, but not as cheap as Turkey used to be. Turkey has learned to extract money from the tourists. Tours will always try and sell optional extras (eg photographs, drinks on board) and restaurants vary on their policy - I learned to check the price of a beer, not just the food. Also, if you want to buy clothes etc, wait until you've seen some places that do advertise the prices so you know what things roughly cost - especially if you go to a market, they start their bartering at very high prices! Generally high prices are not expensive when compared to the UK, so you'll never feel too hard done by, but it can be gaulling to see the same thing at half the price down the road. While on prices, you'll get a better exhange rate if you take sterling out there and change it in Turkey. And don't worry at seeing prices in Euros everywhere - they do this for the Germans and to translate it into TKL they just double it.
Finally, leave your long sleeves at home and save the weight in your suitcase for the Turkish Delight. No restaurant expects trousers / long sleeved shirt, and you definately won't need them, even at night!

Good points: Location, Pool, Cleanliness, In hotel Turkish baths, Staff, Free shuttle to (better & emptier) beach.
Bad points: Cost of extras, air-con (12YTL per day), safe deposit boxes (5YTL pd) & room retain after checkout time (12.00) max retain until 22.00. (50YTL).
Ugly points: The hotel has a no cash policy where meals & drinks are charged to your room. It would be best to pay daily as discrepancies on the day of departure can not be sorted in time which could result in you paying more than you should just to get away. Guess what happened to me!
Overall: Don't let the bad points put you off. Excellent location for restaurants next door (Mehmet's), across road (Baris) & Pub (Kinfgsher 5 mins) 15 mins walk to old town & 5 mins to beach.

We did not really know what to expect for this low budget holiday, but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel rooms are kept clean, fresh linen and towels each day. The food was good, with a wide selection of options for the buffet style breakfast and evening meals. I would go so far to say that the meals got better as the week progressed. We stayed at the Kervan at the end of May for a week. What really made it special was how the staff and local people welcomed us as we have a 2 year old toddler and everybody made such a fuss over him. We can definitely say we will visit the Kervan Hotel again. If you are looking for a quite relaxing break - this is for you!

The better half and i stayed at the kervan for seven days in june this year, i have been on last minute deals to turkey in the past so pretty much knew what to expect.
Arrived at 3 am, we were booked in in 5 mins and our bags taken to our room straight away with no fuss. The pool area is brilliant, it is cleaned constantly, offers shade when you need it and plenty of room to catch the rays, the only downside is people reserving the loungers then going out for the day, nobody could`ve laid in the sun for more than 4 hours at 136 degrees all day anyway, as it is, if you go a walk out in the morning than return mid morning ish there`s always 1 or 2 that have called it a day.
Only had our breakfast at the hotel, it isn`t the best but its enough, just!! fresh omlettes or fried eggs, the usual meats/cheese/jam etc, fresh fruit, coffee is passable but take your own tea bags and a decent sized mug if you wanna decent cuppa, there are a couple of cold "juices" but they tasted the diluted type.
My big bug bare with this hotel is their insistance of the guests "buying" everything from a ice lolly to and full blown meal with a swish card they issue you with, they do not accept cash for anything, i do not like or trust the system so i paid every evening at reception for that days "purchase`s", everybody moaned about it, two had their bill`s corrected after pulling them up about wrong entrys on the print out, so use at you peril.
Best tip is go to the supermarket and stock the fridge up, the soft drinks they serve are cheap copies out of a plastic bottle and the draft beer is rubbish at best so if you do have a beer ask for bottled, i just went to the fridge in the room and brought drinks down to the pool, they ask you not to, but i wasn`t paying a quid for a small "coke" that was warm and flat.
They also like the "extras" here,
safe is a must at 5 lire per day (?2)
air conditioning at 12 lire per day (?5) trust me you need it when its still over 100 at 6pm!!
The staff are pretty good and friendly on the whole though.
Outside:
there are a number of restaurants close by, the one immeadiatly to the right "mehmets in the ruins" does decent food and drink at a good price as does bari`s across the road, if you need your fix of sky sports, go to the red lion, its about 5 mins walk away also serve pie & chips etc if you want it!
The old town is about 20 mins walk away and its the place to go for the bars clubs etc, the food and drink are more expensive, but the choice is massive.
If you wanna chill out, turn right at the nordic bar on the way to the old town and you will find the surf bar and internet cafe, good staff and drinks and nice atmos, tell bernie(female) martin and sharon said hi.
The beach at side is massive, it is sandy and is VERY BUSY!!
I know it might sound like i`m having a right moan at the place but i`m not, i would go back to side and i would go back to the kervan, i`m not a moaner, you get what you pay for and a week for under ?200 will do me anytime (2 weeks would have been only ?235) so yes go to the kervan, its in a good position for shops and eating and drinking and you can also get a quiet night or two if you want it
