A pleasant stay

We stayed five days / four nights at the Riad Arabesque.
We were greeted pleasantly by a driver from the airport, provided gracefully by the hotel (very useful when you've never been there. The drive is approx 1/2 hour).
The hotel also offered a guided visit of the Medina, also very useful when you're not familiar with the surroundings.
The Riad Arabesque is a pleasant traditional building. Our room was large and confortable with a nice view. The hotel personnel was friendly and helpful up to the last minute. We enjoyed the all the meals, from breakfast to dinner. We liked the musical background in the evening (a guitarist / violinist / singer was there every night).
The hotel is located inside the Medina and a few minutes away from a "little taxi" station from which taxis will take you anywhere.
We recommned the Riad to tourists who wish to spend a few days in Fes.
Don't stay there

Read my review about riad al pasha. We had booked there initially, had proof of booking, but Al pasha said didn't have it and said we could stay at Arabesque. Being tired and confused we did. Because it was more expensive than Al Pasha we decided to only stay 1 night which annoyed them. They also got annoyed that we didn't want to have their expensive dinner, and they showed it. In fact all through Fez people showed their annoyance when we didn't buy something.
I believe there is some con job going on between Al Pasha and Arabesque.
Having travelled around the world, there are much better places to travel to and I would definitely advise against makjing bookings with the above hotels.

I stayed in the riad just five days ago and I found it terrible.
I stayed in other places in morocco for ?20/30 and I had my own bathroom and breakfast in the morning. I decided to splash out on my last night in Morocco and stay in a really fancy place. Big mistake.
For ?150 I was told that I was getting a half day tour of the city, transfer to and from the airport and breakfast. The place was advertised as having a pool and a hamman. All lies.
The pool and hamman are not even build yet. The tour- which lasted one hour went from one shop to another even though I had told the guide at the beginning that I was not interested in buying anything. Plus I had to keep reminding them about my taxi to the airport which came so late I almost missed my flight.
However this wasn't the worst of it. I was travelling as a single woman and the hotel seemed horrified by this and looked at me like I was a parasite when I arrived. Let me explain that I look Moroccan and I was covered from neck to ankle, wearing a hair scarf so it wasn't like I was scanty clad. Hence the atmosphere was very hostile especially when you consider the fact you are paying to be treated like a piece of dirt.
No where else in Morocco did I have such an experience and all I can say is if you a girl on your own don't go!

I made my reservation by Internet for being in arabesque. But whem we arrived there they brought us to another place which they called "annexe". In this place, we had worse conditions than in arabesque. We had not bathroom in the room, it was a very small space and the building was too small and poor. We paid for one suite for two persons, with bathroom and living-room, and we found a very small room with poorer conditions. It was a great disappoitment. I can't suggest this place. It was a bad experience.
