We chose this hotel because of the indoor pool. We chose it while on the road so we didn't do a lot of comparison shopping; I'm sure you can find a cheaper hotel room in the area, but we were very happy with our stay. The indoor pool was a good-sized and we had it all to ourselves; it was heated to probably the mid 70s, so it could have been warmer for a more comfortable swim, but it was clean and pleasant. The hot tub was very warm but not HOT, so our toddler could play in there with us when his teeth started chattering in the cold pool! The exercise room looked decent but we didn't go in. The room itself was smallish but there was plenty of space for our stuff in a cabinet and a couple of drawers. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the room was spotless. There was a fridge, a microwave, and free wireless internet that worked perfectly. There was plenty of hot water in the shower and everything worked very well. The breakfast included cereal, milk, juice, coffee, muffins, bagels, cream cheese, jam, butter, packaged danish, and make-it-yourself Belgian waffles. No protein except for the cream cheese, but serviceable for an American hotel. I found the hotel desk clerk and the manager, who was present in the morning, to be very friendly and kind to my kid. We left an item at the hotel, and the manager called us 10 minutes after we had left in order to retrieve it. They gave us an extra half hour to check out in the morning so we could go swimming again, too. The hotel is in your standard car-friendly freeway offramp location, near a couple other hotels, an In-N-Out for burgers and a Margie's Diner for gigantic plates of food. This would be a great place to stay if you were planning to drive out to Santa Cruz, Carmel or Monterey during the day. This hotel is definitely nicer than the ones you can get out at the coast for the same price.

Top notch service for economy pricing. The breakfast food was great, the hotel was very clean, and the staff was friendly. Convenient location from the freeway, too. I would definitely stay here again!

We just got back from staying at this hotel. The hotel was clean but the rooms were very small. My biggest complaint was the rudeness of the employees. A continental breakfast is served in the morning. Not a lot of choices. Promptly at 9:30, the time the breakfast was scheduled to end, people were standing up at the counter getting their breakfast and the staff literally started taking away everything! People were standing there with cereal in bowls but no milk. People who were making waffles turned around and the syrup was gone! We asked for towels for the pool and were treated like we were criminals and told if the pool towels were not in our room (because housekeeping counts them)we would be charged. Went to use the iron and ironing board in my room, the iron was tied to the ironing board and I could not reach the end of the ironing board to iron my pants. Would not reccomend this hotel. There are better choices in Salinas like Courtyard by Marriott!

I had the most wonderful experience at this hotel. They were so friendly and accomodating. It has been very recently rennovated and upgraded from a Quality Inn to a Comfort Inn & Suites. The indoor pool and jacuzzi was very nice and they even have an exercise room. Getting extra towels and pillows was never a problem like at some places when they want everything but your shoe size to get something extra. Also, the breakfast was good, but from what I was told they will be upgrading that soon as well to include belgian waffles! Yumm! I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a clean, safe, and friendly hotel...

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend, since the Monterey area hotels were booked. This is your generic moderate price hotel, wedged between two other chain hotels, with minimal landscaping. A first floor room could be a problem, with the parking lot right next to the building [w/ attendant noise and headlights], so we asked for an upper floor room (elevator was available). Location was slightly off the freeway so it was relatively quiet. The room was clean, with an odd faux balcony that was unreachable unless one was inclined to vault over the air conditioner. Hallway carpets seemed to be unduly stained for a relatively new place, but otherwise the public spaces were fine. Breakfast was adequate, in a sunny and cheerful dining area doubling as the lobby. I noticed stacks of construction materials in the hall and asked the clerk on duty about it. He said that they were renovating the place and changing to a Comfort Inn in the near future. Our stay was quiet, but we advise checking on the construction status before booking here. On trips to the area, Salinas has been a cost-saving place to stay in the past, with lower prices than Monterey. We didn't have time to go to the new Steinbeck Center in Salinas, but we hope to see it on our next visit.
