This was our third or fourth stay at the Hotel Grotta di Tiberio. This really is an exceptionally nice hotel. The executive rooms are a good size with a large balcony to watch the sun go down over the view of old Sperlonga & the sea.
The room, as is the hotel, is well furnished & decorated in quite a modern style. The pool is great. Breakfast is only fair and the lighting on the veranda at dinner is too bright which is a shame as the half-board menu is very good. The bar also seems to be a little of an afterthought.
Everything is spotless and very design. It is quiet despite being on the via Flacca. The beach is a five minute walk away and what a beach. It is even better out of season minus the Roman crowds.
But every thing has a price. The room rates are a little pricey and having to pay an additional 16 Euro on the beach for deckchairs is a shame (La Cassetta is the best) .
We will be back!

We stayed at this hotel with our baby. The standard rooms are not big enough, however the upgraded room we received after consultation with the front desk was much more appropriately sized.
The hotel itself is newly built and set in small garden. The whole hotel has lovely views out over the Mediterranean and Sperlonga town.
It is not located within the town, but is a 10-15 minute walk.. A pleasant enough experience it has to be said, no doubt better now as hopefully they are finished with the construction of a purpose built pathway which was still being built whilst we were there. This did not detract from the overall experience however.
We felt the extra seclusion gained from being out of town made up for the walk, but then we also like walking!
Bear in mind that this is a popular Italian holiday area, so the prices are somewhat high. This does however mean that the standard of food was also good and the town itself very tidy and nicely manicured. It is almost entirely devoted to the tourist trade, the raised “old” town built on a rocky outcrop, being more authentic than the lower development. Bear in mind also that this is an Italian beach experience… We felt that 20 euros for a sun lounger was a bit steep!
In summary, thoroughly recommended, just don’t expect a budget holiday.

We stayed here for 4 days in Sept this year and found it to be very nice. The room was always spotlessly clean and had a view out to sea from the terrace outside. We had a couple of meals in the hotel, and they weren't bad at all either. I think for the money it's very good value. The road is right behind the hotel, so you get a bit of noise if you're outside but not at all inside. They have an internet terminal in reception, which was really useful too. It's convenient to pop down to the beach too if you like, although it's not right on the sea front. Recommended!

Booked this hotel through www.venere.com and it really did not disappoint. Having looked at every possible option (most of which were full) we went with Grotta di Tiberio andhaving now been and looked around most of the other hotels we realise that we stayed in by far the best hotel in Sperlonga. It is the only one with a swimming pool and whilst it isn't on the beachfront, it has views looking out over the sea and the tranquility of beautiful gardens. All of the other hotels are very noisy because the Italians like to be up and about very very early on the beach. The rooms and the cleanest I've ever come across and you walk out onto your terrace/
balcony/garden and there are loungers and a lot of privacy. The restaurant where you have breakfast is next to the pool which never had more than 10 people around it. Everything is done to the highest
standard. This place would suit families, couples or friends although
there isn't really a nightlife at the hotel (the bar is small and quite quiet). That said, you can walk into town along the beach in about 10 minutes.
We never generally stay in the same place twice but Grotta di Tiberio is the exception. Nicer than any 5 star fancy hotel I've ever stayed at.
