The Imperial Queen's Park Hotel was a great experience, to say the least. We were picked up at the airport by very well-informed driver, who told us about all the must-see sites in Bangkok. The staff took care of everything! All spoke English very well, and were happy to check on our flight departure, give local restaurant recommendations, and arrange for a driver to take us back to the airport. Nice fitness center, and 2 beautiful pools. Would recommend to anyone staying in Bangkok.

We stayed in a premier club room so had access to the club lounge for breakfast and cocktails etc. The room was large and although dated it was very clean. Hated the shower curtain over the bath!!!
Service throughout the hotel was pleasant if not particularly friendly. Having said that the cleaning staff on our floor were exceptionally nice and always had a ready smile.
There are two nice large clean pools in this hotel with plenty of sun and deck chairs. We really enjoyed our afternoons by the pool. Never a problem getting a chair.
One of best things about the hotel is that it is next to a large park which is lovely to walk through and see a taste of Thai daily life. There were always kids playing games, people jogging (how they do it in the heat I do not know!), Tai Chi and people just hanging out. You can walk throug the park to the Emporium Shopping centre and sky train. Its really only a 5 min walk and much more pleasant (and quicker) than walking down the Soi.
For the price we paid (about $94 aussie dollars) per night with all the inclusions I wonder how you could do better in Bangkok. Sure its not right in the centre of the shopping area but its probably a little less manic for that! The convenient access to the sky train negates the downside of not being closer to the main shopping area. Also there are some great foot massage places in the Soi outside the hotel. We had at least one each day. Its actually quite interesting just wandering around this area seeing the daily activities of Thai life.
I would thoroughly recommend as long as you are not looking for five star luxury.

This hotel has nice outside and inside look and feel and it is next to a very serene park and a very high-end shopping mall (The Emporium). The lobby is very large and comfortable, the shops and the coffee shop very pleasant and the breakfast buffet is VERY nice. The staff is friendly but most of them do not speak English. I also like the different day-tour packages available and presented at the Hotel lobby. The pool and other facilities are good too. The one draw back is the rooms. I wish the rooms are more modern with nicer furnitures, quieter air-conditioner (it is not loud but can be better), and perhaps larger flat-panel TVs. In my opinion, the rooms do not live up to the same star level as the rest of the hotel. Overall, this hotel is NOT modern nor new but VERY beautifully-kept with a wonderful cultural flavor. Location-wise it is right in the middle of bangkok and the MRT station is just outside of the shopping mall. Supposedly it is in the most exclusive part of the city. However, it is not near the river where some of the attractions are. It took over 35min+ by taxi to get to the Grand Palace or the River Boat (but only about $4 to $5 taxi fare)
