We stayed at another hotel in Istanbul and the room there was very small compared to this fullsized room at the airport. It is not quite connected to the airport but it is about a 5 minute walk to the airport and have to go through security at the airport.
my colleague had 2 double beds and I had a king bed. It was a beautiful hote, clean, no noise what-so-ever and wake up calls were very prompt.

After several international phone calls, we were given an impression by the front desk staff (whose English ability varied) that somehow this hotel is connected to the international termial, that it is walkable from terminals. None of it was true.
One could say technically this hotel is on the airport property, but it is actually located at other far far end of big runways, physically separate and far away from the international terminal and most of the domestic arriving terminals. There is no way you can walk to this hotel from one of those terminals because there is no safe side walk (can you imagine pulling your suitecase in a 5-lane highway?) and it is about a few minutes drive from the international terminal. Therefore, this is not an airport hotel in a sense that many Americans are used to.
From the appearance and photos, the hotel building appears to be connected to one far far awat domestic terminal, because indeed we could hear what appears to be gate announcements (in Turkish) quite loudly (as if it were right next to our ear) every 15 minutes from 9 pm to midnight, keeping us awake even though we had to get up 2:30 am.
A hungry traveler might want to eat at the airport or pack some food and drink before hopping onto the hotel shuttle van, because once you get here, there is no options other than the hotel's very expensive restaurant and room service, not even a vending machine.
To get on the shuttle, there is an island outside the terminals where bunch of nearby hotels send shuttles, just like US rental cars (yes there are many other hotels nearby the airport like this). We found a sign that said "Istanbul International Airport Hotel" and waited for a while, but it appears you have to make a phone call to hotel (either by your cell phone or from a courtesy phone in the luggage area) to communicate to the van driver that you are there. This hotel's shuttle van is dark colored and has no hotel name painted on the vehicle, unlike other hotels. You have to look for a small paper sign stucked at the lower right hand side of the windshield. It appears our driver was rough handling my carry-on suitcase because one of my cosmetic compact was broken when I opened it after checking in. It was not broken at the airport.
To enter this hotel, you have to go through another security check -- emptying your pockets, taking off a belt one more extra time.. One customer complained that he had a security check 5 times in the last 4 hours he traveled.
Check-in took some time even though there were only 5 parties who got off the same van with us and 2 front desk staff were working. The have to record your passport and credit card even though you've given that info when you made the reservation.
Check-out is as inefficient as many European hotels; you have to provide a credit card for the third time, even though we had provided the information at the time of booking as well as when you checked in. If you are in a hurry to catch a flight, you might want to give an ample time to check out. I get a feeling that people in this part of the continent confuse unnecessary redundancy and inefficiency as being polite.
The hotel has spacious rooms, hallways, etc. that make it easy for travelers with a big suitcase. Our room had a flat screen TV welcoming us, big bathroom, and everything was quite nice, but at the price 180 Euro you should expect all of this.
Since this hotel is not connected to any airport building despite the hotel's name, you may want to shop around as there are many other hotels within the same distance from the airport as this one.

As I had to catch an early morning flight to Kayseri a day after I arrived in Istanbul, I stayed at the Istanbul International Airport Hotel and was not disappointed. The hotel staff were efficient and friendly, and the rooms were immaculately clean and quiet. Quiet to the extent that you do not hear any noise from the airplanes taking off or landing. Also the restaurant in the lobby is neat as you get a view of the tarmac and airport. The only drawback to the hotel was the price which was close to $300 a night.
A few words of caution though, if you book through the hotel make sure to bring your confirmaiton number with you as the front desk might not be able to find your reservation by your name. Also there is no entrance to the hotel from the airport (even though it is part of the terminal), and you can not walk to the airport either. But the airport shuttle is parked right outside of the international arrivals terminal. Make sure to look out for the black van parked next to the sign which clearly says "Istanbul International Airport Hotel" on it. But overall this a great hotel to crash for the night if you have to catch an early morning flight or connection.

I stayed here for one night on January 2008 on my way to Ankara. Someone was supposed to wait for me at the airport exit, I could not find anyone, there were signposts for the hotel shuttle, which I could never find. Later I found out that it is a black van with no signs on the van other than a tiny paper notice attached on front window indicating that it is shuttle for Airport Hotel. So beware of it, it is very difficult to find this van in the kaos of taxis and exiting flow of passangers. Also, there is no connection to the hotel from inside of the airport, so it is also a bit strange. Anyway, I ended up looking for the hotel with my huge luggage and under the rain, so it was a bad start, and outside the signposts require a lot of imagination. But once I found the hotel it was trouble free. Comfortable rooms, although decoration is a bit dull and sterile. But comfortable bed, nice and helpful staff otherwise. Good choice if you need to hit the sack on transit

I stayed there February 2008 when I missed my plane due to a delayed connecting flight and had no options to get home until the next day. Rather than wait overnight in the airport, I decided to stay at a hotel and chose the nearby Istanbul Airport Hotel since I had so much baggage and didn't want to lug it too far. The hotel was very expensive but it seemed like my best option. But you do get what you pay for...
The room was very clean. The king-size bed was extremely comfortable. I wish I could have stayed in it longer, but had to wake up early for my new flight. Despite being right next to the airport, the walls are well-insulated and I didn't hear any airport noise. You can get free wireless Internet in the room and the connection was good. There is a minibar in the room, expensive, although one bottle of water is complimentary.
As someone else stated on here, be careful of the bathtub - it is hard to step in and out of. It is also very slippery. The towels were great - they are thick cotton and so big I could wrap them all the way around me, and I am a large woman! I guess they are actually bath sheets. But I have never found such large towels in a hotel. There were no washclothes, however. Perhaps if I had called housekeeping, they would have brought me some.
The staff members were all very friendly (front desk, bellboys, shuttle drivers, waiters in restaurant) and spoke English.
The shuttle will take you back to the airport at any time, even 4:00 AM, when I had to leave.
If you are stranded at the airport and need a place to crash, I recommend the Istanbul Airport Hotel.
