we stayed at the relax resort for 9 nights. the hotel is off the beaten path. it is a 10 minute taxi drive to the hip strip. you have to take a taxi wherever you go. it is too far to walk. if you call the front desk they will have a taxi there in about 10 minutes. when we first got there i think we were the only ones there. it was dead. they opened the bar and the restaurant just for us. the food and the service was pretty good. the establishment is old but the rooms were clean and well cared for. the grounds were very nice,colorful and taken care of. if your on the 3rd floor there are quite a few stairs. the hotel is near the airport so you constantly here the planes coming and going. they start around 10:00 a.m. and finish around 9:00 p.m.. it wasn't too bad. i think the way to get around is to hire a taxi for your vacation. we went on a tour and the tour guide was also a taxi driver. we hire him the rest of the time. since he is a tour guide he knew all about the island and more. we went on a couple more tours (privately) to dunns falls and appleton rum factory. his prices were the same or lower than the rest but he brought you to more than just the tours. he knows the backroads he is very knowledgable. his name is kenneth watson. his web page is www.kensjamaica.com. his email is [--]. his tel# is [--]. if you want to see the country instead of sitting at your hotel you should contact him. all in all there are pros and cons but for the price we had a great time. if you want more info you cn email me at richardakerley@cs.com

We booked then read the reviews and nearly canceled. We are pleased that we did not cancel. The staff were very helpful and the room was fine. The only problem with the room was the lack of electrical sockets (x2) - one for the small fridge and the other for the TV. Breakfast is nothing to write home about, but it was worth the 10 USD that we paid. Only saw three other guests, who were just overnighting at the hotel, so we virtually had the place to ourselves - would book again, but then again we like to try different places.

This hotel is a bad choice for three reasons:
1. Relax Resort is located several miles from the city center and beaches. This means that you will have a choice of walking (45 min. along a busy highway), taking a cab (ten bucks), or taking the hotel shuttle.
2. The hotel shuttle should have been a selling point of this hotel. However, the shuttle was never on time leaving the hotel (we had to round up someone every time we wanted to leave) and never came to pick us up to go home. We waited at the beach over thirty minutes on two occasions and finally gave up to take a taxi.
3. We politely complained to the management about the promised "free shuttle" and how we were forced to spend extra money to take a taxi back every time ... and here is the most bizarre part: The management turned it around and blamed us for missing the taxi by either lieing about the times, saying the taxi was there the whole time, or some other twist of "facts." The manager (the self-proclaimed, "Mrs. Brooks") was EXTREMELY rude when I complained about this and stated, "I will not give you a nickel back ... not one nickel," and then proceeded to rant and rave for around ten minutes.
Overall, there are much better hotels for the same price right on the beach. Do not waste your money here.

Worked in Jamaica and stayed at Relax Resort for 6 months in 2006 – okay. Came back six months later – everything’s wrong! Woke up one morning and my balcony door was open! Someone had been in my bedroom when I was sleeping stealing my purse out of the pocket of my trousers… Got treated disrespectfully by owner who didn’t take me serious and told me it was my own fault!!! I had locked all possible locks and double-checked before I went to bed, and he claims it’s my fault! Both before and after my break-in several of my co-workers also experienced theft. Lab top, cameras, cash, aftershave, Ipod and latest a lot of money from a safety box! Still the owner takes no responsibility, why we’re all moving out today, so we again can feel safe at nights somewhere else in town…
The staff at Relax is very nice and polite but unfortunately that is not important when the safety no good…
Anyway, love Jamaica! You should go if you get the chance…

As I work in Bontego Bay my first thought was that this place was a nice place, well situated, and close to everything. But after a couple of weeks stay I realized that it was not a dream come to. The staff was inpolite and it seems like the word "service" does not exist in their vocabulary.
During my stay we have had to robberies. One where an ipod was stolen, and a more uncomftable one were someone was their in the night. The last one the theif came in the noght while I was seeping found my keys to the safty box and stole 45000JM$. This can offcourse only be a staff member, as the door was locked, and therefor the theif must have had a key himself.
The owner is very arrogant and does not take charge in any way, but just tries to blame yourself for beeing so stupid for not sleeping with my keys on my body.
Please if you visit Jamaica do never stay at this resort. The service is terrible and you will be robbed
