The view was awesome and our room was only several steps away from the beautiful white sandy beach. This hotel has an extremely friendly staff and always willing to please. The hotel doesn't provide tranportation from the airport so make sure to arrange it seperately. it's cheap enough to. It's a bit runned down but they're slowly renovating it. It's quiet, small and doesn't have the "BIG Hotel" hustle and bustle. The outdoor bathtub/jacuzzi is fun.
We stayed for 3 days and loved every minute of it. We try to stay in very ethnic to super swank hotels and like to do things for ourselves and this one was perferct for us. No ice machines but just order some and they'll happily bring it up. Trust me - you'll need plenty. It's further away from the party atmosphere at the northern area of the cancun strip but that's how we liked it.
Taxis at this area will charge at most $10 dollars to take you anywhere - make sure to ask them first how much before riding in one. Don't expect the Cancun strip to be cheap - it's not. If you want to shop in a cheaper area tell the taxi to take you downtown to "Mercado 28". Lots of stuff to buy there and a bit cheaper. You could save money by taking the bus "R2". And remember haggle - I know a bit of spanish but I always blamed my wife that she didn't want to buy it at a certain price. Good cop, bad cop.
Finally, make sure to acclimate your techno stuff - digital cameras, camcorders, pda, etc. The humidity is unforgiving and will fog up your lenses. bring a bag and open it up and let the techno stuff adjust slowly. The lenses will fog up but jest leave it alone for a few minutes and the machines will acclimate.

Great hotel that is situated so that no one would ever know it's there and yet it is right around the corner from the mall. They were waiting at the door when we arrived. The staff was both friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a place to get away from all the all-inclusive hoopla and bad food, this is your place. We travel throughout the world and this was one our best experiences. Tell Luis and Enrique we said hi.

Before going, I'd read loads of reviews of this and other hotels, booked it and what a superb result! The room was the size of my house, big bed, nice terrace, food excellent, service was quiet, smiling, helpful, not pushy.
Sure, at the front, the exterior is undergoing, and needs renovation, and some of the paintwork has been done with more enthusiasm than skill, and the shower head could have used a new washer or two, but big deal! plenty of hot water still comes out of it. are you going to die from being near innaccurately painted doorframes, or something that hasn't been cleaned for 20 minutes??? come on!!!
I suspect that people who have given this place poor reviews because it's "dirty/run down/shabby/whatever" are a little on the OCD end of the scale, I loved it, and we'll stay there next time we go to Cancun, no question, it's a choice of the Turquesa's charm, or being guest no. 1000001 in one of the faceless factory hotels that line the beach, hmmmm, tough call.

The advertisements and photos of Casa Turquesa convinced my husband and I that this was the right place for a quiet and relaxing getaway. Indeed, it was quiet! We had most of the hotel to ourselves. However, we were surprized to find out when we arrived in Cancun, that there was no hotel transportation to and from the airport, as advertised. We had to pay extra for our own transportation. The hotel property entrance was so run down that I thought it must be closed! There were more surprises! no gourmet restaurant , no bar (due to their being closed for renovations) , no CD players in the room , no playable tennis courts and no free continental breakfast each morning, for which we also had to pay extra. Our week, (including the surprises) was prepaid, so we had to stay. Considering all of the surprises...I'm glad we did. We relaxed, and it was quiet.
The staff was excellent and friendly, and cheerfully tried to accomodate our needs. Although there was a small cafe on site for breakfast and drinks, They suggested dining in other restaurants the area , and even made reservations for us. Taxis were available at an instant . Classical music filled the attractive lobby, which was abundant with art . Our room was clean and spacious with bare marble floors , but needed lots of TLC from paint spills. The lock on the balcony sliding doors was rusted and very difficult to close. The bathroom sinks were corrodied and needed to be replaced. Plumbing was sluggish. The kingsize bed was extremely hard, and although the sheets were clean, they were threadbare and worn. The AC was noisy.
