We arrived at Riad Tammou after a terrible night at Kasbah Toubkal and were delighted as we entered the beautiful Riad. The Riad is simply stunning and is obviously well looked after by the owners. When we arrived the riad was full and the next day we were left on our own as the sole guests - which was perfect for us and was very tranquil!
Our room was beautiful although the taps were leaking which had lead to a damp patch - am sure this will be rectified asap though! We booked Suite Yasmine and were given Mamass which was a little disapointing as Yasmine was by far the superior one but it didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Be aware though that the Riad is on the main road and I am sure had you a room which didn't look over the swimming pool then the experience would probably have been tainted as these rooms were rather loud. (Suits Yasmine and Mamass and the one upstairs are all the "right" side of the riad). Also note that the riad is about 25 minutes by taxi to Marrakech and it is about 150 dirhams to get there...which was fine for us as we didn't like Marrakech!
The food was plentiful but there is no menu so it is a case of eat what is made and the service was ok - if we wanted a 5* experience though we would have checked in the Amanjena up the road!!
All in all a nice experience and relaxing experience!

My husband and I went to Marrakech for our first year anniversary and staying in Riad Tammou made our celebration all the more amazing. It is one of the most tranquil places we have ever stayed in. I can only use one word to describe the service offered at Riad Tammou and the place itself and that is.....Exquisite!

I know there are already many rave reviews of the Riad Tammou, but I have to add my praise to the ever growing list. We arrived and were immediately given mint tea, welcomed and made to feel very special. The room was very comfortable and well appointed, the linen immaculate and the deluge shower just super.
The riad had arranged an evening meal for us as we arrived fairly late and we were bowled over by the food. Although the cooking is simple but perfectly executed. Delicately spiced tagines and couscous were the order of the day with generous starters and delightfully palate cleansing fruits to finish. By the end of the week, both of us felt immensely healthy and fit, having eaten most of our meals in the riad because we liked it so much.
The chef, Mahjouba, used to work for King Hassan II and she is marvelously talented. Ahmed, the owner of the riad, arranged for me to have a cookery lesson with the lovely Mahjouba and I learned to make a tagine dish; it was really great fun and very interesting. Breakfast was fruit and wonderful flat bread/pancakes that were incredibly moreish. I could ramble on for pages about the food it was so good.
The location of the riad is great unless you're addicted to the sound of car hooters! Inside the medina it's frenetic, hot and very noisy but outside the bustle of the town at Riad Tammou, it's possible to sit outside in the lovely gardens and listen to birdsong. The garden walls are garlanded with bougainvillea and the garden is subtly lit with lanterns at night to create a most romantic atmosphere.
The swimming pool is a decent size and there are plenty of places to lounge in the sun or shaded seating areas to while away some time. The central area of the riad is just delightful, with a pool filled with rose petals, all lit by a lantern that is taller than me! Candle light flickers and the scent of roses makes this an uplifting place to be.
The most important thing about the Riad Tammou is not all the features but the people. Azdine, the Major Domo is most subtle and seems to almost read one's mind. Our driver Mohammed was just a delight and took us all around to the Atlas mountains, on a tour of town and on a trip to the east of Marrakech and was unfailingly cheerful, the girls who looked after the room changed the towels so often that I got confused and the wonderful Mahjouba came every morning to greet us. Everyone, even those not mentioned, made our stay very special.
I have stayed in 5* super deluxe hotels and although they're great, this little gem outshines them all. To be made to feel like one of the family, an honoured guest and royalty all at once is no mean feat, but the people at Raid Tammou did it. We have already booked our next stay at Riad Tammou and we will probably hop over for a weekend before that as we are already missing it so much.

We had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable holiday at the Riad Tammou. The service level was exceptional, the food amazing, and the amenities just right. We went to escape the fast pace of life in London and unplug in warm weather and a comfortable atmosphere; and that's exactly what happened.
There are no phones (although mobile coverage is excellent throughout Marrakech) and no internet service. If you need your fix of sports scores or work e-mail, they'll drive you down to the nearby village (or you can walk) where there is a hut featuring four Dell computers and internet access for 10 dirhams an hour (that's just over 50 pence). How about that!
They don't want TVs in the rooms, but if you need a fix they've recently added a 60" plasma screen with a satellite dish in the theatre room. The only other hint of technology is the soft jazz emanating from the Bose speakers throughout the Riad. And if you don't like soft jazz, don't worry, they'll play whatever you want...
Essentially, Ali and Souad (the owners) and their team have set up the Riad as a home away from home. It doesn't feel like a hotel at all. The staff is there - behind the scenes - to ensure that you're as comfortable as you can be. You can choose to stay on the grounds of the Riad and relax indoors or out, you can go for a long run through the olive fields behind the property, or you can utilise one of the drivers and cars provided at your service to take you into the inner walls of Old Marrakech (a magical experience I might add), or to one of three nearby golf courses.
Finally, I should mention how excellent the chef is at Riad Tammou. Her name is Mahjouba, and her Moroccan dishes were so excellent that we only ate dinner in the Medina (inside the walls of old Marrakech) three times over ten nights.
Additionally, if you happen to be bringing small children with you, you won't believe how much Moroccans will adore them. Najat, one of the housekeeping staff, spent hours a day helping us out with ours. It was totally unexpected, and she was absolutely wonderful. Finally, Azdine, the head of the staff there, is at your beck and call, ensuring that you are relaxed throughout the day.
Essentially, we can't recommend Riad Tammou more highly, and will certainly return.
