We just came back from a nice trip to Barbados, we stayed at this hotel for just one night, and it was one too many. We paid for a room with an Ocean view, and if you could find the view though the pool, and deck chairs, then you had an Ocean view. The room was clean alright but so very noisy at night. We woke up several times at night from a baby crying, people talking very loud, and from general talk in the hall way. The staff was indifferent about the hotel guests and would look at you like you were bothering them.
AND, you have to pay for the use of the in room safe! And $10 Barbados for an hour Internet. NOT RECOMMENDABLE.

I stayed for 1 week at thebutterfly beach in january 2008.
The staff where excellant, welcoming and very friendly. The rooms our, clean large and comfortable grat value for the price. There 2 good bar restaurants within walking distance davids and diablos. Its a short ride on the reggea bus 2 the gap and you can walk to ostins and the fish fry on friday night.
We spent most of the week round the pool sundeck area and next door beach. Then hired a car and traveled round the island fantastic

I would like to start by staying "Steve's" review is spot on. Its exaclt what l would have said about The Butterfly Beach hotel. One person wrote the beach was disapointing, as it was rocky and could only be reached at low tide. What she failed to say was that to the right of the hotel there is another beach which is accessed through a got at the side of the hotel pool. This beach was brilliant and could be reached at any time! We had a superior beach view room and it was excellent for the rating. Very large, cleaned everyday, TV which had a decent amount of channels, and an amazing view. The staff in the restaurant were moody, but as Steve said if you invited then to chat they were friendly, and anyway who wants to be friends with the staff on holiday? Make sure you do the Cattermaran tours, we did ours with Al Tigro but they all seem to be the same, its a great day out. The buses that take you to "St Laurence Gap" for $1.50 each was amazing, you never waitied more than 30 seconds for it, ok it could get a bit crowded, but thats half the fun! We even took it back to the hotel at night, but not after 11pm, and felt totally safe. The restaurants at "St Laurenc Gap" were great, we didnt have a bad meal, Houdini's and Joseps were our favorite, oh and Bellini's. Some of the restaurants were a little expensive average price of some was ?80 for two, with drinks, but others were as cheap as ?50 for two with drinks, and they were still really lovely restaurants with beach/bay views. Location of the hotel is perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a moderate hotel in an amazing Country.

Just returned from 10 days at he Butterfly Beach and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I will admit to been slightly apprehensive after reading some of the reviews on here, but this was unfounded. Overall the hotel is very good for the star rating it has, people seem to forget this fact. The rooms are big and well equipped, having both air conditioning, ceiling fans, safe (about $22 BDS, ?5 ish), fridge, kettle, hot plate etc. They are a little dated but again look at the star rating. The decks, pools area and Jacuzzi area are all very good, kept clean and tidy. Yes there are better beaches on the island, but the two by the hotel and I mean right by, are great, safe and with very little hassle that you tend to get on the more popular beaches. The staff can come across as a little uninterested but if you engage them they are very friendly, especially Maria in the bar / restaurant and Candice on reception. The breakfasts are good as is the lunch menu. Yes the dinner menu is slightly limited but the food is very good and it is quite reasonable. We hired a car to explore the island from Coconut Cars, who were friendly and quite cheap, paid for 3 days got 4 free. Over all I would recommend the hotel to anyone, as long as the remember that it is not the Four Seasons, but you are not paying Four Season prices.
