recently stayed here while attending an event out at the expo. the trip was for business and the hotel, staff and amenities were all perfectly designed. got the carlton club level room which for the extra price was well worth it. the club lounge on the top floor was excellent value. great breakfast and great for end of the day beverage and snack. well worth the extra price. some pressing and dry cleaning service was also included which made the club room deal even better. staff were great all round - they remembered my name and favourite food or drink within a couple days. great service and great value - will stay here again next year with pleasure.

Just name it...everything is just around the corner from Carlton Hotel. Well, not denying the fact that Singapore is a well planned city with great infrastructure and connectivity, the hotel is just across the street to the Cityhall MRT interchange, which give you the great accesiblity.
It is also adjeacent to Raffles Hotel - a luxury hotel declared a National Monument in 1987, CHIJMES - a national heritage site, which is now a popular dining, shopping and entertainment site and many other places of interest.
I was there for a conference at Suntec City Convention Centre, the hotel provides free shuttle bus/cab services to take us to the doorstep. In fact, SCCC is not that far away. I managed to walked back to the hotel after conference via the underground shopping mall linking Suntec and Cityhall interchange.
Carlton is also 2 blocks away from the Singapore Art Museum. I managed to steal time from work to get a climpse of Xu Beihong's oil painting masterpieces including "Put Down Your Whip".
"Put Down Your Whip" is a 1939 oil painting by Xu, which was sold for US$9.2 million in an auction in April 2007, setting a record for the highest price ever paid for a Chinese painting at an auction.
The room is Carlton was clean and comfortable, although, they can do a lot better with a more modern initerior. During my stay, I understand that the hotel was undergoing refurbishment for the rooms.
Nonetheless, the view from my room was magnificent. Overseeing tall buildings blending in with colonial architecture of old chapels and churches. The Marina and Singapore Flyer are both within sight. It was a wonderful sight and stay.

i booked a couple of rooms for my guests. i was bothered that despite their phone confirmation a few days before the check in date the rooms requested was still unavailable on the actual check in day.
as hotel prices has been skyrocketting like nobody's business in singapore, i assumed that they have upgraded their rooms. unfortunately i was mistaken. one of my guest's room had a problem with the toilet flush. when i visited them, i was surprised that these are the flush that are used in very old government housing estates - HDB apartments. older people will have trouble with this type of flush, because it just does not flush completely. fortunately, engineering seemed to fixed it after 2 sepearte tries.
some stuff in the room also did not work - blow dryer was faulty, the minibar was barely cold. the amenities in the room is limited. they do not provide any complimentary drinking water nor do they provide any qtips or cotton balls in the toilet. the only amenities is a sewing kit and shampoo/soap set. they do not provide any toothbrush/toothpaste/mouthwash. they provide a single pair of slippers for a twin bedded room. and free coffee/tea making facilities in the room.
as stated by other reviewers, there is a tiny gym and swimming pool. they have a unisex sauna and steamroom. the lobby only have 4 chairs for waiting guests. so it gets quite crowded when the airline crew from ethiad arrives or departs.
i guess with the rise in prices, my expectation has also risen. unfortunately, the rise in prices was just that - a rise in price. no improvement in the existing facilities can or should be expected.

I was there on a leisure trip and spend almost two weeks, we had a junior suite overlooking The Old Raffles just opposite the ancient convent now transformed in a gallery with restaurants and shop, perfect for dine out on terrases. The hotel is confortable, quiet and perfectly located just off the metro in central Singapore. Try the restaurant on top of the Swis hotel, it s worth the vue and the food.
