Just don't. Yucky place, old, nasty sheets, flat and gross pillows. Everything was dingy and not at all the clean feeling you need when staying in a hotel. I had kids there too, and was so scared to let them roam around the room. NOT worth a penny, in my opinion. There is a new Comfort Suites hotel very close by that is only 10 more a night and a billion times better. There was a shooting this past week at the mall very close to this location. Just shady area, don't take your family here.

I don't know what the negative reviews are about (maybe people unfamiliar with the efficiency suites accommodations). I found this place to be an excellent choice for the business traveler. Very clean and new, huge room, huge bathroom, loveseat and coffee table, great cable channel selections, and free internet access (via ethernet--so bring a cord). Sure they only clean your room once a week, but that's part of the reason it's 49.99 a night! Sure the desk does double duty as a kitchen table. What's the problem with that?
Anyway, I would highly recommend this place for the business person on a budget.
My only complaint is that the kitchen could be stocked with better equipment--compared to other such places, it was kind of skimpy (just one pot, one pan, no glassware (just plastic glasses), no things like measuring cups, corkscrews, etc.). But the selection of supplies was basic enough to do a bit of cooking beyond just nuking frozen dinners.
Also very close to the highway, but doesn't seem like it (wooded area across the street), about four blocks to the closest grocery store and fast food places, convenient to business sites and local attractions.

My husband booked this hotel at the last minute for a short weekend getaway to Virginia Beach. I would have never chosen a hotel this far (40 minutes) from the beach. This is not the type of hotel to stay in for a family get away. The so called 'suite' was the size of a regular hotel room with a very small kitchenette area and bathroom. The decor was unpleasing to the eye, the table which should have been a desk, was old and outdated. The mattress was so hard, my body ached the next morning.
They don't make the room up unless you stay for longer than 3 nights and even then they charge a separate fee for cleaning the room.
I guess if you are just looking for a place to rest your head or an overnight business trip, it's OK but other than that- I would not choose this hotel again.

I made the reservation by telephone and was given a confirmation number. When I arrived they did not have my reservation. The confirmation number apparently means nothing to them. They did however get us a room. The room had a sewage pipe that was leaking between the wall in the bathroom and the room had an offnsive odor. We made it through the night and then left. After arriving home I learned that they had charged my credit card for three rooms. I called to get that corrected and the management has been very evasive. They will not correct the problem and will not return any calls that I have made. I have had to call my credit card company and dispute the wrongful charges on my card. I travel quite a bit and this is the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Do yourself a huge favor and stay somewhere else.

Staying A Week In Newport News Area? Stay Here!

If you are going to be in the Newport News - Bush Gardens - Williamsburg - Suffolk area for a week or so... Check this extended stay hotel out!
My company held a training class for a week in Newport News May 14 thru 19th. 2007. We were "booked" into this extended stay hotel by the company at their expense. So we all figured it was going to be some "dive" the company had shopped around for the best rate from. We were all pleasantly surprised, and our company could not have done much better!
Parking lot is well lit, very clean, and the grounds are well maintained. It has an appealing and inviting atmospher to the business professional, as well as to a family of four.
Front desk clerk (Savanha?) greeted us with a smile as she multi-tasked behind the counter with skill and efficentency. She was filled with youthful Southern charm, and made us feel welcome. She was especially quick and resourceful in finding me another room when I realized the one assigned was non-smoking.
Rooms are spacious, and well appointed. Included is two (2) burner electric stove, LARGE microwave oven, automatic drip coffee maker, full-size refrigerator/freezer (with ice cube trays!), plates, cups, and utensiles for four (4) people, Nice 32+ inch color TV - 4 channels of HBO and all 4 ESPN's plus the 4 local network channels. Queen size beds were in my room - nice and comfy matress. three foot + bar in closet space to hang clothes.Full length mirror on bathroom door and huge mirror in the bathroom. Sink and shelving in bathroom very accomidating to folks getting ready to go in the morning :)
House keeping lady was also a pleasure to encounter in the hall. Friendly and sweet, she asked if I needed anything, and left extra coffee making packets.
Only two bad things to say about this hotel... LOW FLOW Shower head. Everyone hates them, but they are becoming "the norm" with every hotel and motel as they try to keep costs down.
Second, sound insulation... you can hear people coming and going on your floor from time to time, and larger trucks out on the main road - also at times.
Lastly, DO NOT eat at Azteca Plaza Mexican Restraunt on Jefferson Avenue... couple miles up the road. I asked for coffee or soup spoon to eat my sauce cover dinner with, and was told they did not have any! They actually offered me a long ice tea glass spoon to use. It was a complete dump, the food was awful, and the service was non-exisitent from a waiter that reminded me "Shaggy" from Scooby Doo. The broken door handle on the exit door( just barely hanging on) said it all about this antiquated needing repair restraunt.
