My name is John Yost and I stayed at your establishment for 9 days. My experience was beyond belief. Cory DeGroot, General Manager, was outstanding, so was Claudette and the entire staff. I was treated as if I was family, and when you are far away from home, this makes all the difference. The same goes for the rooms, the ambience, the service and everything. I would recommend this Inn with the highest rating possible. Thank you to the entire staff for making my stay a very pleasant memorable one.

Fine for a Football Weekend

My husband and I took my son on a long weekend to see a Notre Dame football game. This is a basic motel less than a mile from St Mary's and just a few minutes from ND. Check in was a breeze; there's no actual lobby, just a few tables with area information opposite the front desk and a desk where you can use their internet. The opposite side of the reception area is where tables and some couches are set up for the "free" breakfast. It's decorated in fall/earth tones and there's a fireplace. You get a nice cozy feeling when you walk in.
The rooms are not what I'd call "spacious" but are not bad. We had two double beds; I would assume the king rooms have more open space. A notable feature is the fridge and microwave in the TV armoire. You can buy frozen dinners and other snacks in the "pantry" off the front desk; however the hotel is located on a highway full of fast food and "family" restaurants and you can easily walk to the Denny's next door. We crossed the highway (in a car) to the excellent Chinese place, Great Wall. The downside to the refridgerator was it hummed very loudy and "clunked" as it kicked on and off about every hour all night long. The A/C and TV worked fine.
It was clean enough; the housekeeper was just finishing up when we arrived on a Friday about 5 pm...I thought that was pretty late; I can't see the place being so busy on a Thursday that they'd still be getting rooms ready at that hour. It appeared that the furnishings (bedspreads, carpets, artwork, vanity) were fairly new but the outer layer of the shower enclosure was peeling away with some large bare spots in the tub.
My son enjoyed the indoor pool - only 4 to 5 feet deep with a large deck area. There's a small workout room next to it and an outdoor patio. Unfortunately the whirlpool tub was 'out of order'.
The "free" breakfast (no doubt subsidized by the shameless price gouging all these hotels do on weekends) choices were cereals, english muffins, toast, flavored muffins, danish, bagels, waffles, bananas and apples. Atkins is so done : ) .
The beds are very comfortable but the walls are thin; a group of men in the next room watched football games until after midnight and we could hear every word. We cranked the A/C fan to try to drown them out. Otherwise it's a perfectly adequate place to shower and sleep if you're going to be out all day like we were.

Bad customer service

Arrived early evening on a sunday night. Exterior looked nice but interior needed updating. The tv remote did not work. Had called the front desk three times and each time the sol;ution did not work. Also the shower did not run. Only a trickle. When we complained to the front desk, they acknowledge that they were aware of the problem but could not fix it. The next day at the breakfast, the staff was monopolizing the toaster and the space around the food bar. No courtesy for the customer. The rate was low but we got less then what we paid for.
