Worst hotel ever

I underwent a disastrous treatment by the hotel staff when I reported that my jewellery was missing. It was more or less black and white that one of the staff took it away from the table in my room since I'd never let anyone else in. The hotel manager determined to defend the crying cleaner saying she wouldn't do such a thing, and told me that it must have been my misunderstanding. On the next day when I came back from outside the jewellery was put back on exactly the same table. Who wouldn't think that the cleaner came back and returned it while nobody else could enter my room? Still, the manager claimed that it was my mistake and treated me as if I was crazy. It should have been much easier if she just fired the cleaner but her attitude was completely opposite to how it's supposed to be, which is, on customer's side. Even worse, all the cleaners ganged up on me and never cleaned my room from the next day, and I had to stay in a dirty room for a while. Is it a treatment you get in a four-star hotel? Please reconsider if you are thinking about staying in this hotel.

We had a nice stay in this hotel. Our room was updated, clean, and had a fantastic view of the lake and downtown Zurich. The location is a 10 minute walk along the lake to central downtown Zurich. The staff was very friendly and as helpful as you needed them to be. The breakfast buffet was more than acceptable as was the service. Zurich is a beautiful clean city and the views of the lake are spectacular. We will definitely stay in this hotel during our next trip to Zurich.

I stayed at Steigenberger Bellerive au Lac for one night on June 28th, 2007. The rate was 398,-- CHF (250,-- Euro), tax and breakfast included. This boutique hotel is four star rated the location direct at the lake but a ten minute walk from the city center away. A doorman is not available, help with the luggage on request. The check in was efficient. The lobby is not very representive, the entrance between two car dealers.
The room on the top floor was like the hotel in good condition, nice and modern equipped and spotless. A complimentary bottle of water and a fruit basket were placed on the table at arrival. The room had a large corridor, a marble bath with separate toilette and a quite spacious bedroom. The bedroom had a large writing desk with a fax machine, a small balcony with two seats, table and a partial view of the lake. A bathrobe and slippers were available, too.
The breakfast-/restaurant room was located on the first floor with nice sights of the lake. Service was a little inefficient, as there were scrambled and fried eggs were not replaced during my 15 minutes stay.
All over a nice hotel, not cheap but according to the high priced Zurich hotel market a comfortable option.

Other reviewers have described the location of this hotel as not encouraging. There are more up-market districts in Zurich and it's not slap bang in the middle of the shopping centre. But then London's Park Lane is similar. Park Lane is also on a busy road that it shares with car dealerships.
If you stay at this hotel book a room on a high floor with a lake view, because that's the reason to stay here. A fabulous lake view from a large room. Sound proofing is excellent and it's hard to remember you're in a city. It's a ten minute, pleasant stroll along the lakeside to the flee market and the beginning of the posh shops in the centre. The location is only a problem if you insist on falling out of your hotel straight into Cartiers.
I found the staff attentive, pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was a good buffet and if the standard strong coffee isn't to your taste you can have a latte or capuccino instead.
If you stay in warm weather take the hotel advice and leave the balcony doors closed to avoid sharing your room with the odd biting insect. All inland lakes have there share of these, but this lake seems to have very few. The balcony is, in any case, more a design feature than functional. You would have to be very small to use it and it is over a busy road. Don't let this put you off, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
