Zunächst einmal: Sie gehen max. 3 Min. bis zum Strand. Dieser ist unter der Woche -fast- menschenleer. Einfach genial!!!

If you're budget is tight and you're looking for a decent place to stay in Fort Lauderdale, then this place is it.
The room I had was meant for 4 people, but we had a group of 7 and the manager was nice enough to have all 7 of us in there for an extra $5 a day (bargained it down). The room itself is very plain and basic, but at least it was clean. Our group saved A TON of $$$ because it had a kitchen and we cooked most of our meals there.
The motel has a very nice pool, which our group had tons of fun in. The beach is only a 5 minute walk and it was basically deserted, which was good and bad, but at least it was a very nice beach. There are a ton of stores, mini-shopping malls around the area if that's what you're into.
So overall:
The Good: Very cheap price for lodging ($450 US for 5 nights/4 days for 7 people! That works out to about $12 US per day per person!), SUPER friendly staff (especially the manager), good location to the beach and stores
The Bad: When we stayed there (near the end of February), the motel was occupied by mostly old folks and families, and we were looking for a student-crowd, as we're college students ourselves.

We booked the Lafayette Motor Lodge through an online travel site because it was cheap and the pictures of the motel looked nice. The room that we were assigned smelled of cigarette smoke. When I asked for a non-smoking room, they said that all the rooms were supposed to be non-smoking but some guests smoked anyway. (I guess they saw the ash trays in the room as an open invitation!!). Also, I saw housekeeping smoking while cleaning a room!!. The bathroom window was broken and a piece of plywood was placed over it. We suffered through it for the price but I doubt we will go back. On a positive note, the staff was friendly.
