We weren't aware of the fact that there are two separate buildings to the hotel, Beachside and Lakeside. Lakeside seems nicer. We got rooms at 2600baht under their 'soft opening' rate.
Despite the fact that it is brand new, the place really is starting to fall apart fast. Cracks are showing, paint is peeling, etc...Had a room facing the main road. You could often hear the noise from Bangla Rd, but it probably wasn't enough to wake anyone up.
Staff really didn't know english and had horrible recommendations (didn't know names of bars in Phuket Town, told us there were no such things as an afternoon ferry to Phi Phi, told us double the price for taxis, etc...). In the end though, it's a good location, with Ikea quality furnishings.

We had a wonderful time at the Millennium. The hotel was tastefully designed, not too much zen, not too much thai and not too much retro but a bit of everything, neat and clean. I was not feeling well and needed a hot bath. As there is no bath tub (rightly so), I ran myself under hot water shower for a long time and the water temperature did not change a bit! That is so for the air con too. It is individually controlled and the temperature was constant throughout, and very quite too. I appreciate the fact that the room is big, and comes equipped with everything you expect in a 5-star hotel. There's also reading lamps on each side of the bed and the switch is easily accessible by just lifting the arm. The hotel is perfectly located, it's doors leading to Jung Ceylon shopping mall and is just a few steps away from the busy night life Bangla Road, and yet the hotel is not disturbed by any noise. The service is good too, the staff at reception speaks english and the breakfast was very good too. There are 2 pools that guests can use, the one in front of the spa is longer, if I am not wrong, it should be as long as 50 meters so it is good for lap swimming. Hotel taxi is the cool toyota camry. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else everytime I go to Phuket from now on. Thank you Millennium!

We stayed at the Millenium Hotel & Resort in Patong/Phuket/Thailand for 4 nights. They just opened in dec07/jan08 I think and you could feel it was new and fresh!
HOTEL LOCATION
The hotel has two buildings connected to a big shoppingmall - the lakeside and the beachside. It sure sounds better to stay in the beachside but I think we did the right thing choosing lakeside since it was further away from the nightlife. Bangla Rd with all the bars and nightclubs is really just a 3 minute walk down the street. We almost couldn't hear the noise even though our balcony was facing the nightlife, you had to really listen to hear it.
ROOM
We stayed in a regular/superior room on the 3rd floor and it was very good. Room was very clean if not for a few spots you almost couldn't see on the floor. Beside that, the room was very clean. I personally think that they could have had some "sign" for when you didn't want your sheets changed for environmental reasons. In my opinion you don't need clean sheets every day and most of the hotels have something you place on the bed to show you dont need new sheets that day. This hotel didn't.
BREAKFAST
The hotel breakfast was really the best we've had in these two weeks. Open 6.30-10.30 and everything was always fresh, even if you came in 10.15. No flies or anything that we've seen in other hotels. I think there were 4 different kinds of juices, about 8-10 hot dishes (thai breakfast stuff, sausages, white beans etc.), 5-6 different kinds of cereals, cold milk/youghurt/something else, fresh fruit (watermelon, pineapple, dragonfruit and a LOT of other fruits), a LOT of bread choices and a huge salad buffet. In my opinion the best part of it was that they made omelets/scrambled, bacon, fried eggs, boiled eggs and some other stuff upon recuest. You just walked up there and told them everything you'd like. In other hotels we stayed the bacon was always greasy and the eggs green inside from overcooking, but never here. Also there were fresh pankakes and crepes. Even the coffee was somewhat drinkable. :-)
SERVICE
Our experience is that everybody at Millenium is really serviceminded and tries to help you no matter what the request is. When we had a daytrip planned and was waiting for our ride, we went for breakfast and they would come get us when our ride had arrived. Also when we went to Phi Phi Islands for a few days we could leave half of our luggage in their storage - no problem! Also I had been shopping in the mall and we were in a hurry due to dinner plans, and I went to the beachside reception (we stayed in lakeside) and asked them to take the bags to our room. Again no problem.
Only problem was when we were leaving for the airport early in the morning. We booked the transport in the evening on the day before, but the nightshift had forgot about our request. In the morning of course they fixed the problem in no time and we went to the airport no problem. My advice is therefor to get a confirmation (make them call your room when they've booked it or something) so you dont get stranded. This was about 5.30 in the morning and we wanted to have breakfast, so we could go in and eat about 30-45 minutes before breakfast was even open.
They really deserve a 5+ star for service!
CHECKIN/CHECKOUT
Very quick and no problems. They walk you to your room on checkin and show you how everything works. Checkout also very effective.
OTHER
The pool is located on the 4th floor, wich really makes you feel you're not in the middle of the city. Pool area is very nice, pool actually feels cool and not hotter than the air as other hotel pools in the area. Pool bar is very good. They made the best club sandwich we've had in Thailand here, and the non-alcoholic fruitshakes were really good, try the one with watermelon. :-) Sunbeds new and fresh and comfortable, umbrellas were big, the gym was great. We never tried the SPA because it was really expensive compared to all the good massageplaces down the street.
All in all, we really had a great experience with this hotel and it's staff. Will surely return.
