This Hotel is located in the financial district which is 20 minutes by metro to Taksim, the main shopping and sightseeing area. This area is currently being developed, hence there is a lot of building work locally. There is one good shopping mall, Kanyon Mall 10 minute walk away which contains several shops and restaurants. We found nothing else in the area for tourists. Hotel is situated on a very busy main road and prices in the bar were extortionate. Staff were helpful and friendly.

This hotel is fantastic. From the welcoming staff in immaculate uniforms, to the valet parking service, to the smart and clean rooms, to the key operated lift - everything was as you would expect from a 5* swiss chain.
We were disappointed, though, to find that not everything was perfect.
On our second day, the mini-bar was not refilled, and it took 2 requests to housekeeping before we were brought the wrong items: and a further 20 minutes to get the correct items. There is a pillow menu in the room, but having a different pillow delivered also took 2 requests and 24 hours wait.
The restaurant food is superb, outstanding and reasonably priced. The service staff tend to be a little over-powering in their desire to please, but I'm not sure that's really a complaint! However, the weekend is quiet in the hotel, and with an empty restaurant the quality of service drops dramatically. It took 2.5 hours for a 2 course meal - which is stretching one's patience a little!
Having said that, when we mentioned our concerns at check out, we were dealt with quickly and efficiently. We were invited to a conference with the duty manager, chef and F&B manager who listened with genuine concern. They were apologetic, friendly and seemed keen to know how they could improve. Unlike some hotels, I really felt that they would actually take notice. I didn't feel as if I was being 'fobbed off'! They also didn't offer discount on the bill which is so often the easy option in hotels of less quality.
Overall, I'd recommend it. The location is great, and whilst it is expensive, it's worth the money. It's not perfect - but it's trying very hard to be.

It is the second review I am contributing about Moevenpick Hotel Istanbul, and I can only praise the high level of excellence this property has achieved. We revisited the hotel and this time we had our kids along. The staff made our stay very comfortable and everything was flawless.
Our 2 connecting rooms on the 10th floor were maintained in excellent condition and cleanliness.
Breakfast buffet had a huge variety of Continental-British and Turkish items both in terms of quality and quantity, it even included several items for kids and this was greatly appreciated from my daughters.
My wife found that pillows were a bit hard for her and requested a change to a softer one, concierge did their best, and 10 minutes later a maid came knocking our room door with 6 !!!!! pillows varying from orthopedic, to goose feather ,to latex and so on. I feel that this kind of service has to be commented and praised.
In addition the hotel is now offering complimentary internet connection in the lobby. Hotel parking is free for quests compared to other properties who charge at least 12-15 YTL for 24 hours.
We did some, on foot exploring around the hotel and in addition to the excellent AZZUR ( hotel restaurant), well known Turkish kebap houses like Kosebasi and Venge are within a walking distance. The hotel bar BARRADOX was featuring a Latin music quartet, in a very lively atmosphere..
We look forward next time in Istanbul to stay in Movepinck again .

A good business hotel, if you visit Istanbul for business.
Very nice room, a fine breakfast, beautiful and modern building, nice bar at the lobby.
But too far from the center (there is a metro station near which can easily get you to Taksim, but it takes time). Surroundings are ordinary, nothing special.

My family and I recently stayed at this hotel. Their only interest is to get as much of your money as possible. There were added charges for almost everything -- more than one person in a room, breakfast (complimentary at most Istanbul hotels) for more than one person, internet connections, etc.
The staff was very unhelpful. Their initial response to any request was NO!. Check out was a disaster. Their statements are very confusing -- and only then do you discover the added charges (we were not the only people having this problem the day we left). The staff language skills were limited, especially at the front desk.
For an upscale hotel it does not have a concierge - only a tour company in the basement that is solely interested in selling you their tours. If you want something else, they tell you it is not available.
The breakfast buffet was mediocre and expensive (@$37.00 per person.) Meals and drinks are quite expensive and with limited options.
The location is far from any sites of interest and the traffic is usually terrible most times of the day (it takes over an hour to reach the Sultanahmet area by taxi in normal traffic).
We had a far more enjoyable stay at the Savoy Hotel in Taksim Square (while slightly lower rated thnt the Moevenpick, the staff, location and food at the Savoy were far better and far more reasonably priced)
So only stay here if you have to, and then only if you are on a generous expense account -- even then you should think twice about it.
