Attractions
Amman City
This ancient capital city is rich in historical archaeological sites, art galleries and shops. Featuring a citadel and Roman amphitheatre, it offers modern amenities and is also a busy administrative centre.

Aqaba
Jordans only port city, surrounded by rugged mountains that subtly change colour as the day unfolds. Crystal clear waters offer sanctuary to an abundant marine life, and its pleasant climate offer an ideal location for water sports and scuba diving.

Azraq
This restored oasis in the Eastern Desert is home to important wetlands for migrating birds and offers visitors boardwalks, bird hides and an informative visitor centre.

Baptism Site
Identified for nearly two millennia as the spot where Jesus Christ was baptised by John the Baptist. Dotted with churches, baptism pools and home to one of the earliest Christian prayer halls.

Crusaders Castles
For those fascinated by legends and folklore surrounding the Crusaders, a second group of castles beckons. The scenic Kings Highway is spotted with the remains of Crusaders forts and outposts. The most important among these are Karak and Shobak.

Dana Nature Reserve
This 300 sq km reserve is remarkable for its diverse habitats and large number of plant and animal species making it their home. There are two campsites within the reserve and the Dana Guesthouse located in the village. Field guides are available.

Dead Sea
Its landscape of historical and spiritual legacy is virtually unchanged since ancient times. Relax and treat yourself in the gently lapping waters with its natural elements of curative powers. Where else can you float and read your newspaper.

Desert Castles
Jordans deserts are dotted with ancient castles, forts and caravanserai, many from the first half of the 8th century. Amra Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Dibeen Forest

Hammamat Ma in
Since the days of Rome, these thermal mineral springs have been visited for treatments or simply to relax in the hot therapeutic waters. Located southwest of Madaba.

Jerash
Breathtaking ruins of colonnaded streets, arches, temples and baths in a remarkable state of preservation. The Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts is not to be missed during the summer months.

Lots Cave
One of the most significant archaeological discoveries in Jordan, it is here that Lot and his daughters are believed to have sought refuge in a cave after God destroyed the city of Sodom, according to the Book of Genesis. Located near modern Safi.

Madaba City
On the 5,000 year old Kings Highway, is Madaba, City of Mosaics, dating from the Middle Bronze Age. Here lies the 6 th century Byzantine mosaic map showing the region from Jerusalem to the Nile, located in the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George.

Mount Nebo
The most revered site in Jordan. On this presumed site of the death and burial of Prophet Moses, early Christians built a large complex, until today an active monastery. Breathtaking views from the front of the church across the Jordan Valley.

Petra
A legacy of the Nabataeans, the site of this magnificent city was lost to the world for over 1000 years until its rediscovery in 1812 AD. Carved into rose-coloured stone, Petra is one of Jordans national treasures.

Shaumari Reserve
Created in 1975 by the Royal Society for Conservation of Nature as a breeding centre for endangered or locally extinct wildlife. This small reserve is a thriving protected environment for some of the rarest species of animals in the Middle East.
