Having read great reviews and seen photos of this property, we were extremely disappointed with our experience at the Quest on Nelson. This property is located right off the motorway so the street noise is absolutely unbearable. The rooms are so stuffy with no airconditioning and the only way to get any fresh air is to open the windows onto the screeching traffic noise (which never stops). Thinking we would get a "harbourview" as booked, it was interesting that out of our bedroom we looked onto the filthy balconies of a neighbouring residential apartment and you could just glimpse a view of the "harbour bridge" from the tiny balcony which also gave much better views of the motorway!
It's quite a fair walk to the main city centre - Could not wait to leave this property!

My Husband and I stayed at the Quest on Nelson for two weeks before moving into something more "long-term". We paid slightly extra for "a larger room with a balcony and fantastic harbour views". The views were fantastic but the room was still pretty small and the balcony was a joke - more like a safety rail, 50cm away from the window. The staff were all very friendly and the cleaning average. Good to have own washing machine and drier in bathroom. Kitchen was well equipt when it came to appliances but not utensils and cookware. We didn't use the gym and swimming pool as it was in a Children's centre down the road and not at the hotel. Easy 10 minute walk to city centre, supermarket and viaduct harbour. Overall, hotel is fine for a couple of days but I think 2 weeks was probably the limit.

We stayed here for almost 2 weeks, with a gap of over a week in between visits.
The apartments are right in the heart of the Central Business District, yet just a short walk from the City Centre.
Both of our apartments had fabulous views of Auckland Tower and the harbour Bridge.
Well geared towards the business traveller who may need to spend some time, there's a washer and dryer, fully kitted kitchen with dishwasher etc. which supplemented otherwise average, spacious, clean living space.
We found the underground parking useful, WiFi was available, DDI telephone calls to the room with answering service was very useful.
Reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly, this was the kind of service we grew accustomed to as Brits visiting NZ - and liked very much!
Families would probably like the space available, but most tourists will stay in hotels a little closer to the centre. This was, however, by far the best value for money quality accommodation we saw in Auckland.

Stayed at this one because we had stayed at Quest in Christchurch and thought it would be the same.
The room was ok,its on a busy street but the view is good. The bathroom was tiny with a very small bath which only a dwarf could lie in.
Useful, as other reviewers have said, to be able to wash and dry clothes.
It is quite a way out of the centre, walkable but not really convenient.
reception staff were pleasant and helpful.
