we chose this hotel on the recommendation of a friend and were very pleased with our choice. It's excellently located, close to the metro and transport hub of Placa Catalunya.
Our room was very quiet, clean and comfortable- no problems with noise at all. We felt security was taken seriously and there was always a friendly security guard at the front door.
Hot food was available on request at breakfast. It always came quickly once you had found a waitress but sometimes it was not quite what you had ordered (due to language barrier). We were very impressedby the evening meal - restaurant is closed in the summer months but dinner was served on the terrace instead with a set menu as well as a la carte. The set menu was great value and excellently cooked with attentive service pitched at just the right level.

Our family of 4 stayed here for 5 nights and found that the hotel is so convenient . It is minutes away from 2 metro stations. It is walking distances from the La Rambla and The cathedral. It is surrounded by lots of restaurants and cafes. You can't go wrong. The room is clean and sufficient, there's free internet access if you have your own laptop. There is a swimming pool but very small, only worth for a dip. Very few hotels would let us all stay in one room but because the kids are small(5&6) , they let us have the kids in the one room. Most hotel will have maximum of 3 people in 1 room. The staff is friendly .

I stayed in the hotel with my partner during the 2008 Moto GP.
The hotel was assigned to us by our tour operator but we were more than happy with their choice.
The room was lovely and spacious with good wardrobe space.
The bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom and looked newly fitted.
The only down size with the bedroom was, as lots have people have mentioned, the double bed was two singles pushed together.
The continental breakfast was full of choice and very filling but the cooked options you could choose if you managed to flag down a waitress were hit and miss, both food wise and whether what you ordered was what you received.
Overall a lovely hotel, central located and well worth consideration.

I stayed here for two nights in April 2008. I reserved a single room but was upgraded to a double. The room was quite spacious by European standards and was clean and comfortable. While the room faced a major thoroughfare, it was fairly quiet and unlike some other reviewers, I had no difficulty falling sleep or staying asleep. The location was excellent, two blocks from Las Ramblas, Placa Catalunya, and the Barri Gotic.

This hotel is in a great position to explore Barcelona from the Plaza Catalunya to Barceloneta and Port Vell.
It's clean and comfortable with an adequate breakfast buffet. (Not as spectacular as some other reviewers have stated.) The bar prices are very good and the atmosphere is friendly but unobtrusive.
We were very happy with our stay, once we'd asked for extra pillows! I would say that, if you enjoy a bath, you'll only be comfortable having one here if you're less than 5' tall. Otherwise, stick to the shower!
It's easy to get to from the bus station or metro, close to Urquinaona station, and 5 minutes walk from the Tourist bus hub at the Plaza Catalunya.
I like the idea of a free glass of bubbly on presentation of your card at the bar but bear in mind it's only between 9 and 10pm so plan your evening carefully. That said, this is Spain and many good restaurants don't even THINK of opening until 8.30pm or later.
We would stay here again, but definitely for longer. A great location for a base and good value.
