Just like to say I have just returned from Spa Porta Maris, had a great time.......Okay there is a lot of contruction going on at the front ( as there is in the whole of Alicante ) but did not let this stop us from enjoying our stay at Spa Porta Maris.
sited literally a stones throw from the beach and local shops
On arrival we asked for a room with a see view( very important ) and the warm and friendly staff delt with. The room wasn't like boring traditional you've probably been used it was very morden with 19" lcd Tv, clean with fully stocked mini bar fully air-con. The panaramic view from the main recption is to die for. more to write just can't think at the mo

Just returned from the Spa Porta Maris Hotel. The other comments about the building site opposite the Hotel do not do it any justice! If you intend to have a car whilst staying at this Hotel then don't. It took us 35 minutes to get from the main road and down to the Hotel, a distance of only a couple hundred yards. The traffic situation because of the works to the Harbour are absolutely awful, even by British standards. The noise and dust are just awful as well. You have to pay to park your car in a private run car park and the cars are jammed in like sardines. We asked for a room at the back of the Hotel but were told none were available but we were given a "superior" room at the front overlooking the building works etc. The "superior" room was very nice although lacking in the basics such as tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast is served from 7.30am - I had a plane to catch at 8.30am and we turned up for breakfast at 7.22am to be told that under no circumstances could we start on the buffet breakfast that was spread out before our very eyes!! The Spa is a joke, we could not get near the indoor pool (which is probably only suitable for kids and you have to wear a swimming hat at all times) or even on the tiny tiny tiny sun terrace. The outside pool which was right next to our "superior" room was not for the use of Hotel guests. My husband asked for a late check (2hrs after the official check out time) and was told he would have to pay half the room rate. The Hotel is lovely and clean and the staff are very nice and polite but I would not go back again.
