An excellent choice for a stay in the French countryside. The rooms are generous, the staff is helpful, and the 3 restaurants are all excellent. The location is convenient for sightseeing in several major cities.

We stayed at La Chartreuse du Val Saint-Esprit, near Gosnay for 1 night in June 2008 as a treat for the last night of our holiday in France. The hotel is not very far from Calais and the Channel Tunnel. It is a perfect place to stay if you want to have a quick dash to the tunnel or ferries the following day. We had stayed here with a group of friends for a gourmet weekend about 10 years ago and I knew it would be a great place to stay for our last night. I was not disappointed. The place was even better than I remembered – it was faultless. The hotel is located in a beautiful building on the edge of the village of Gosnay and is a very quiet location. The interior if beautifully furnished with lots of character. Check-in was very good and efficient. Staff were all extremely friendly, attentive and professional. We stayed in Room 108 which overlooked the front courtyard. It was very elegant, clean, spacious, light and airy. It had a modern luxury bathroom with a large shower and ‘his and hers’ washbasins. The towels were large and very thick and fluffy. There were three restaurants on the premises – we opted for a gourmet meal. I think we had 4 or 5 courses with many ‘tasters’ in between. The dessert trolley was overwhelming; the cheese trolley was fantastic. We then decided to take coffee and a liqueur in the lounge and I could not believe it when we were presented with another trolley, loaded with exotic chocolates and delicious petit fours.. Breakfast was taken in the same room as we had eaten in the previous evening. There was plenty on offer and nicely displayed. Check-out was quick and easy. There was plenty of parking within the hotel courtyard. We have friends who stay here on the last night of their holiday every time they drive over to Europe and I must admit that in future I will now do this each time too – it’s a real treat to stay here for a night.

Just spent one night at this hotel,chosen following good 'Trip Advisor' reviews. The Hotel lived up to expectations,spacious comfortable room with very good bathroom.Excellent service throughout our stay including a porter arriving to take our luggage as soon as we opened our car boot.Speedy check in and check out. The dinner menu included in our one night package was a bit restrictive and would not have suited everyone. We thought the food was delicious but for the price should have been just a little bit better,the cheese and desert choices were outstanding as were the petit fours served with coffee. You could make a choice from an enormous trolley.Wonderful wine list but be prepared to spend at least 50 Euros for a bottle. Wi Fi was only available in the public areas and was very slow. Overall it was a good experience and an excellent place to celebrate my partners birthday.
