Stayed at Intercity Kiel June 29th-July2nd 2006. Other then being in a very good location (right next to train station and by the bay) would definitly not recommend this hotel.
- They will automatically charge you 11 Euro's for breakfast unless you explicitly tell them you do not want it a full day before. So just tell them that immediatly when you arrive. You can always go to breakfast still and then they'll charge you. These --------- even charged me the last day when I checked out before breakfast started.
- You will be woken up by trains and people from the pubs downstairs in the middle of the night, bring earplugs. Or from the cars parking below you (it is on top of a parking ramp)
- If you want internet access do not get a room by the elavator. They say it will work however it won't. (They use t-mobile for internet, about 18 Euro per day)
- There was a Neo-Nazi rally outside the hotel one day I was there. This of course isn't the hotels fault, just an intresting note.

Very modern hotel without any atmosphere, but fine location next to railway station. No noise from trains - fairly small rooms, all very modern and clean. Effient place, but absolutely no feeling of being anywhere special. Rooms on separate 3 and 4th floor with lift connecting to lobby on ground floor. Long climb when lifts do not work!

I just spent two nights last week in Kiel. I had to find a hotel quick, and Maritim was booked, so I was hooked by a price, comparable to Maritim, expecting the comparable hotel level. Oh, was I wrong.
The hotel is situated on a 3-floor building. It's not a typo, not "in" but "on" that building. The building holds (among the rest) a 3-level parking place, of which the 3-d level is on the roof. Arriving there, one can see an additional 2-floor narrow building, raising from that roof. This is the hotel rooms (the reception is on the ground floor).
For a 3-star price, one gets a 2-star, Ibis-comparable rooms. 62 rooms per floor (if I remember it right), all along a long, narrow and dark corridor. Each has a minibar (the 3-star mandatory feature :-), but no bath, which I am used to see in Maritim and Holiday Inn. The rooms are, as I said, quite small -- about 4x5 meters.
In addition, there is a restaurant in this hotel (another mandatory feature?). It is opened until 22:00, but usually, when there are no customers, they close at 21:00. I had two different steaks on the first night (for me and my wife -- I am not the kind to eat two dinners at once ;-), and both were quite hard to chew. And, no, there is no room service -- I had to pick them up myself.
There is one good point about this hotel: it's entrance is 20 meters away from the main train station's exit. So if you arrive in Kiel by train, don't want to go anywhere and have some meal with you -- that's the place.
