Spent a week staying at the Shanker Hotel and enjoyed it immensely. The building is a converted palace and looks like a brilliant, oversized iced cake from the outside. Many of the rooms have individual character with coloured tiles and friezes of mythological characters around the walls. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The Hotel Bar is a cosy snug place for an Everest beer at the end of the evening and the pool area is well kept, cool and a refreshing oasis of calm. I will be coming again for return visits.

I stayed at the Hotel Shanker prior to and after trekking in the Khumbu valley and found the hotel fantastic. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and most of them speak good english. The rooms are slightly older but this is what you get when you stay in what used to be a royal palace. The rooms were always well cleaned, and the linen was what I expect when staying in a hotel.
They are happy to store any extra bags that you have while away trekking so this is very handy.
The hotel is located only a 10 minute walk from the bustling tourist centre of Thamel, and the local Bluebird supermarket is about a 2 minute walk from the hotel as well (turn right at end of the driveway)
We were lucky enough to swim the pool which was very clean and is situated in their expansive gardens which is a nice haven from the noise outside. I highly recommend this hotel.

Servizio eccellente
