We were pleasantly surprised by the Antea Hotel! We went to the beautiful city of Istanbul for 5 days/ 4 nights and had a wonderful time there. I was travelling with my husband and teenage son.
If you're going to Istanbul it's very important you book a hotel in the Sultanahmet area; it's so beautiful to stay in the middle of all these breathtaking mosques. It's 1 or 2 minute walk from it all.
The hotel is IN the middle of it all but in a quiet street so you can sleep very good there, no noise from the busy streets.
The personel is very friendly and helpfull, but you have to find the 2 or 3 who speak english, otherwise it gets a bit complicated :)
The rooms was not big but in very good shape, clean and nice.
We had an extra bed in our room for our son but i guess when you are with two adults it's just right.
And... who wants to stay in the hotelroom long, besides sleeping, in this wonderfull city.

There's nothing exotic about the Antea but its clean and the breakfast does the job. Its on a quiet street & the rooms are cool. We didn't spend much time in the room we were too busy exploring Istanbul. Its in an ideal location, close to Blue Mosque, Afia Sophia, Basilica Cistrin, Grand Bizaar & good restaurants. There's a neighbouring hotel called Hotel Nena which has a rooftop restaurant with a beautiful view. Worth a visit one night. Pasha Pub & Cafe is another good choice to watch the world & the trams go by whilst having a beer. Cafe Mesale on the left below the Blue Mosque was a lovely airy spot to have dinner or just a tea whilst listening to the live Turkish Music. We found no fault with this hotel but it might not be to everyones standard.

I strongly reccomend not going to this hotel. i booked a room 3 months ago through a travel agent (he suggested it); it was me and my friend (2 girls). when we arrived, we were told that there had been a communication problem and they were told it was a couple (man and woman) and they had assigned a double room with a french bed. they said the hotel was full and for the first night they could not do anything, but for the following night, if we wanted, they could change us to a twin bed. we agreed (there wasn't another option anyway!) and we were assigned a very weird double room at the 5th floor (elevator only to 4th floor!) with a round bed. it was ok . the day after we went out for several hours and came back exausted; we just wanted to take a shower and rest and so decided to stay there instead of changing rooms for just one night (and having to pack all over again). the guy at the reception though told us to leave the room, and when we said it was ok to stay there for us, he said we had to leave BECAUSE THAT WAS A SUITE AND WE HAD PAID FOR A STANDARD ROOM, changing completely the story from the day before. we were really disappointed and tired and he started being very aggressive at us, saying we had to leave the room right away or pay the extra cost, or else leave. he sent a guy behind us to make sure we made our bags and leave the room immediately. i got very upset and went to my room and locked the door. the manager called me after a while but the story did not change much, he only agreed to give us enough time to rest and make our bags and then call when we were ready. i feel we were treated in such an aggressive and unpolite way because we were 2 women alone, and none of this aggressiveness would have happened if there had been a man with us. unfortunately, there was no other choice than change room, because we were scared, but i hope if anyone is thinking of booking a room there, they first read this review. it's a pity because the hotel is ok and rooms are not so bad, and location is great. but i will never go there again in my life.

I would say this is a fair choice for your stay in Istanbul. The rooms are a bit old but overall, it is good value for money. The hotel is convenientely located in a quiet location in the hear of Istanbul, within 1 minute walk from the tram stop 'Cemberlitas'. The rooms are spacious but could do with a bit of updating specially the bathrooms. The breakfast selection is Typical Turkish Breakfast: bread, peeled fruit, olives, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese, scrambled eggs and sausages. On our last night , we had to be moved to their sister hotel just down their road because they are undergoing decoration and their sister hotel was much nicer and the rooms more modern and the price was the same.
Maybe after the redecorations, Antea will be as nice as their sister hotel.
