Booking/checking in
----------------------------
The front desk is not open 24 hrs, but if you tell the hotel staff in advance, they arrange for the keys to be left at a place where you can find them.
Staff
------
Friendly staff (Zelma and John), they enjoy the work they do, this is seen in their service orientation too.
Room
--------
The rooms are neat and tidy, It does not charge 5* rates, so dont expect 5* rooms.
Location
------------
A short walk to the central railway station, china town
Lots of different eateries nearby
Negatives
--------------
The rooms dont have a direct line, so it can be a problem for business travellers

This could have had a 2.5 rating if we had the option. We were pretty desperate by the time we identified this hotel for our second night in Sydney - there were few rooms available thanks to Justin Timberlake performing! We wrongly assumed that the words 'central' and 'railway' meant it was near the central railway station (and indeed the blurb suggested this), so when we had to drag our heavy bags for fifteen minutes from the station we began to feel somewhat misled. The buses run fairly frequently to Circular Quay and take about 15/20 mins. The room was clean and quiet with only a fan, but in need of refurbishment (although some may have been upgraded and aircon installed) and the staff friendly and helpful. WiFi access costs 10 dollars for 24 hours.

We were booked in for 4 nights but only stayed for 2. The worst aspect was that the rooms' main windows faced on to the inner landing/courtyard. This made them feel dark and claustrophobic. Having booked in May we were disappointed not to have had rooms facing on to the main road, which at least had a sunnier aspect. The only public area was outside in the courtyard.
We did not find any satisfactory eating places in the surrounding area. The station is about 10/15 minute walk away.
I would be very interested to know what the price and accommmodation was like in the hostel almost next door.

Coming from the country by train, this hotel was placed just right. Rooms were clean (beautiful linen)and provided all you would need. We stayed a couple of nights but would have liked to stay more. Perhaps it is suited to those who prefer a quiet location but was just right for the four of us and the rooms we had did look out over the streetscape and noise was no problem. The courtyard atmosphere out the back of the hotel was extremely pleasant; an ideal place to farewell oveseas visitors who were with us.
Altogether, a pleasant and inexpensive venue. Thanks
