We booked 23 room nights at the hotel along with banquet facilities in July 2008 for our daughter's wedding. The bell staff and concierge were terrific and went well beyond the call of duty. The staff in the office and reception are poorly trained and often rude. Our room had a broken lamp, the pool was dirty and the wedding reception was poorly executed. We previously stayed in the Hilton Princess in San Salvador and liked it very much but were told this hotel was better. The Intercontinental is a very ordinary hotel with poor service at the reception desk and banquet facilities in our opinion. We will not stay here again.

I stayed for 2 nights on a business trip the last week at the Real Intercontinental San Salvador an it is not only a great hotel (excellent rooms & facilities) but the most important and outstanding thing to mention is the service that the Staff provides. I stayed at the Executive Floor and since the check in the experience was unique, I was received with a welcome drink and although the clerk was busy with another guest, the butler show up and invited me to have a sit at the living room. My favorite restaurant was TEQUILAS, a Mexican touch!
The main mall is just in front of the hotel, very convenient.
I highly recommend this hotel if you go on a business trip, you are close to the main corporate offices.

So I stayed in the Intercontinental Hotel for about 10 days in March 2008.
Well, I would say on the whole, a pleasant experience. I found the staff to be very very helpful... in any way possible - whether I was asking for Internet connection, where the pharmacy was or indeed any questions were not too small to devote attention to.
Me and my colleagues had dinner in the small taverna-like bar, but the dishes were a little bit bland. The other restaurants we didn't try, but they looked nice.
The breakfast is adequate, there is for all tastes, nothing at all to complain about.
Laundry was delivered promptly the same day although it was not required, that's a very good service.
The gym is well-equipped, actually very good. The pool... I wouldn't call it big. It's actually quite small. But it's still pleasant.
I can say I missed only one thing and that's wireless internet access, although the cable in the room, of course is enough.
