We stayed at the Intercontinental Cologne for 2 nights in May as the first stop of a month long trip to Europe. The hotel lived up to all the favorable comments, and our standard room was just fine. Our only complaint was that we noticed that after a fine dinner in the Maulbeers restaurant that the bill indicated a 12 euro charge for our bottle of water. This was the first meal after a flight from LA, and I didn’t make an issue of this. After reviewing the charges for water in other places, this was totally out of line. Others may want to take note of this, I realize this may have been a mistake by the waitress. Cologne is a delightful city, and we really enjoyed our dinner at the Sion Brauhaus.

Check in was smooth with friendly multilingual staff.
The location is a bout 5-10 mins walk from The Dom with an open lift that gives you fantastic views of the city as you go up in it.
Rooms are a good size with comfortable beds and a separate shower & bath, as well as bathrobes & slippers.
Wide choice of TV channels as well as a mini bar that will charge you if you leave the door open for more than 15 seconds.
Tv & coffee making facilites are free in your room & a turn down service is included at night.
The hotel has a leisure club but we preferred to take the u-bahn to the thermal pools and wallow there for 2 hours as it was more relaxing after a 6 hour train journey.
The area is safe enough to walk round at night & The Hard Rock Cafe is just around the corner.
Beds are extreemly comfortable with indivuidual duvets and all rooms have excellent soundproofing & air conditioning.
Wide choice at breakfast with helpful staff & omlettes made to order.
Will deffinately use them again.

Not much to add, except to emphasise this hotel is High Design if you care to look.
Great bed, great views, the room has everything you need, including iPod Dock (especially good if you carry Video on your Pod).
The Hotel Bar rocks! Its unpredictable, but some nights seems to be a magnet for blues and jazz muso's who jam on the Baby Grand late at night.
Location wise, you can walk to the Heumarkt in 5 minutes, then the length of the river which is lined with al fresco cafes and restaurants.
All in all, a very nice experience if you need to be in Koln.

The hotel was super, in a good location, and the room itself was quiet, rooms are quite modern with everything you need, my husband was impressed with Holmes Place the gym and large pool. Breakfast was plentiful, being in an Exec room we had the choice of the main restaurant or club lounge.
Only strange thing was the lateness that the rooms were cleaned, 4pm, then at 7pm their back to turndown the bed!!
Check in was swift and the whole Cologne experience was great, do go around Xmas the markets are lovely.
Would love to do it again this year.
