Nice hotel, but we didn't feel safe

We got a cruise package at this hotel it was a park and stay. We left our car at the hotel while we went on our 4 night cruise. They had a shuttle that would pay for two people to get to the port. They told us to be in the lobby by 10:45 AM to get on the shuttle and this shuttle didn't show up till 11:30 AM. We finally got on the shuttle and half way to the port the guy told us how much it was. We told him two people were free and he said the hotel never told him this. We had to call the hotel to finally get it straighted out. It was a lot more stress than we wanted before leaving on our cruise. Then come to find out when we got home from the cruise the hotel said they only payed one way to the port and we would have to find our own way back to our car.
Other than that mishap the hotel is very nice. We enjoyed the room and the breakfast was good. We had a problem at the pool. They had some construction going on and the construction guys sat at the pool and watched my 14 year old daughter and 19 year old nieces in the pool. We also had a guy try and sell us watched while we were at the pool. So the pool area isn't secure.
I did talk to the Manager about this and at first she was going to try and blow things off, but then after I got more upset she decided to give me the money we paid the the shuttle transfers. She did say that she just started last week and that things are going to get better. I hope she secures the hotel pool!

Booked this as previous reviewer as part of a Park & Fly deal. As my outgoing flight was 1:35 a.m., I used the night at the hotel on way back before driving 3 hours home. What a heavenly restful stop after a demanding trip.
The room was clean, stylish and had all the right amenities, incl. the 42-inch TV. It was actually a small suite with wireless wi-fi and a good set-up for a business person.
I was delighted to find that there was a "gallery kitchen," which produced the best small pepperoni pizza I'd had in ages. Plus all kinds of teas, coffees, soft drinks, beers and wines. Good selection of salads, sandwiches and other popular foods.
The rate was about $100 for the single, incl. taxes and 10 days free parking. A real bargain. Will definitely be using them again if we fly out of Miami.

Booked through Park-Sleep-Fly.com to secure parking while traveling, arrive December 3, return December 16, 2007. Surprised to find property under renovation to be reopened as Hyatt Place Hotel, but entire place was torn up with renovations at this time. Dust, dirt, construction vehicles, storage containers in parking lot. Only 1 elevator working and it had unfinished drywall mounted on interior walls to protect from construction debris. Room was absolutely unacceptable with dirt, mold, wet carpet, etc.
Nevertheless we were committed and left car while traveling. Returned 2 weeks later to find pressure cleaning and painting on exterior, car speckled with paint overspray. Room rates probably typical for hotels in the area, but grossly overcharged for the condition of this property. Manager was gracious enough to refund room charge for 2nd night. Property should have been totally closed during renovation.
Probably going to be OK after renovations, but be certain that they have been completed before reserving at this location. FYI, hotel transport to MIA was not available at the time we needed to go (our problem, not theirs) = $25.00 cab ride one way. Be sure to inquire about property status!

It started off badly when I called the hotel the night before our initial arrival date to confirm a 3 night stay booked through Octopustravel.com. The hotel had no reservations listed for us. After numerous phone calls to Octopustravel, we were told that the hotel would honor our reservations for the second and third night but could not accommodate us for the first night due to "sewage and water problems." Amerisuites did put us up in another hotel for the first night, however, it was not a comparable suite, just a regular hotel room with two beds. We called Amerisuites the following morning to request an early check in or at least allow us to leave our suitcases at the hotel so we leave for the Everglades National Park as we had planned. We were told they could do nothing for us until much later in the day. We decided to drive to the hotel and talk directly to the hotel manage. He was very accommodating and had the staff to clean a room for us. Unfortunately, our disappointment did not end here. We were woken every morning at 7 am by the hotel construction crew which was working on another floor. The beds were very uncomfortable and obviously overdue for replacement. The breakfast was adequate but nothing special. I would not recommend this hotel while it is under construction.
