Lovely quiet hotel with excellant surroundings/rooms& service.
However dont buy food and drink there- was sooooo expensive and much cheaper on the island (not in hotels)or on" mainland" Venice.I went with my mother who couldnt swim and was a little unsteady and would not recommend this hotel as you have to get on a small boat to the main area of Venice- also when weather is bad boat will not operate.Breakfast was good and in peaceful area.
Would receommed Di Monti-i think for pizza on the island -it was lovely & very reasonable. There are supermarkets on the island also.

We paid for a double and got stuck in a pokey back-room with little space and a view of an internal shaft to delight us. The hotel staff were polite and mannerly, but the prices for room-service were the most outrageous rip-offs I have ever experienced. We moved to another hotel after two days, our experience ruined for those. Perhaps other visitors got better rooms, but ours was dark and cramped. Location is very good though, handy for St. Mark's Square, though the one we moved to was much closer and much nicer.

I absolutely adored the Bauer Palladio!
Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 3 nights celebrating our anniversary and our whole experience was faultless!
Although we did not eat at the hotel restaurant, the breakfast was lovely and it was literally eat as much as you want!
One thing I would advise anyone staying here is not to bother with booking any tickets for the water-bus service up front.
We was tempted to but on arrival found that there was enough to see within walking distance and so didn't need to use it.
The hotel has a private boat that runs across the water from Giudecca to another Bauer hotel literally 5/10 minutes away from St Marks Square.
All other popular tourist attractions (Rialto Bridge/Market, Ca' d'Oro, Jewish Ghetto, the Casino) can be reached on foot so all I would suggest is investing in a good pair of shoes and take a good map!
In fact even on Giudecca itself there are some lovely churches and other buildings and if you fancy a quiet private walk then it's definietely hidden away from all the hustle & bustle in St Marks Square.
I definitely would stay here again! Just for longer next time!!

If you have booked to stay in the hotel during your visit to Venice you will not be disappointed.
This hotel is in a perfect position overlooking the Grand Canal. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the main land reached by a short trip via water bus or free hotel shuttle boat.
I notice several comments about the star rating of the hotel, I do not know if this hotel is really worthy of its five stars or not. It was a very nice, clean hotel with complementary slippers, dressing gown and you return at the end of the day to find your curtains closed, slippers at the side of your bed and your bed sheets turned down.
Only disappointment no tea making facilities in room, how did we cope! To avoid the prices of the mini bar in the room buy drinks from the many little shops just a long from the hotel.
I personally found the staff friendly and courteous but what the hotel offered in terms of facilities was not explained.
I think the key is to ask for information at reception where to eat, where to go etc. The staff have all the information including maps of Venice. In retrospect I would have asked where to eat outside of the hotel as eating can be expensive in Venice.
Although the hotel was beautifully renovated it did still hold that sense of its historical past.
The thing that really worried me when booking this trip was transportation as we were making our own way to and from the airport. However this was really straight forward and we bought a water bus ticket which gets you easily around Venice and the Island of Giudecca (on which the hotel is situation).
Have a great trip and hopefully you will have the experience of sitting on one of the benches outside the hotel viewing Venice in the distance as one of the enormous cruise liners passes on its way down The Grand Canal, an amazing site.
