Just got back from a week in Copenhagen. Our stay at the Ascot was a true highlight of the trip. We arrived at 11:00 a.m. after an all night flight, fulling expecting to wander around until our room was ready at 2:00. Imagine my delight when the receptionist checked me in and said the room was ready early! I nearly stammered rechecking the info., but we were able to get a nap before wandering around. Location wise, this is the best. Close to everything from the train station to the large bus areas at the Town Square. Convenience store below the hotel and grocery store on the next corner. I will note that we rented a penthouse apartment. It was not much more expensive ($55 per night), and the balconies (2) were worth it for catching the breezes. My husband and I were travelling with our two teenagers and wanted the extra room. I lived in Copenhagen during college and travelled through Europe so was prepared for plain and tiny, but the apartment was spacious and clean. When we walked in (3 hours early) a maid was preparing the extra beds for the kids. I have heard the bed coverings in other reviews referred to as "odd", but once you have slept with a danish dyne you will want one for your bed at home! We had a nice sized bedroom, comfortable bed. The kids slept on a sofa bed and cot already in place when we arrived. The kitchen was stocked with glasses and all else we needed, and although the dishwasher was full of clean dishes, we laughed and put them away. Seriously, the breakfast is wonderful. Food in Copenhagen is beyond expensive, so the best advice I can offer is to eat the breakfast. We were not hungry again until dinner. The coffee machine is the best I've had anywhere. The service was A plus. Our electric converter broke, and my husband asked where he could buy another, but the receptionist dug around and found one that another guest had left. Just gave it to him, and was glad to help. A tip on street noise. You are in a big, fun loving city. If you travel by air keep the ear plugs and sleep mask from the plane. We had no problems with noise. Will only stay at the Ascot in Copenhagen. Who can turn down an apartment at a reasonable price in one of Europe's more expensive cities?

Although I had booked at the Ascot Hotel, me and a friend of mine were given a room at the Ascot Apartments. Nothing to complain because it was a small room but very well furnished, with a little refrigerator + sink and plates.
The hotel is well located, about 4 blocks from the Central Station and only 2 blocks from the main shopping district (a long street that leads to the most beatiful places of the city).
The breakfast was included on the price and it was OK.
We arrived very early in the morning and our room was not ready, so we left our luggage at the storeroom in order to walk around the city and make time until the check in time arrived. When I booked I was told that this would be at 2 PM, but at the front desk I was told that it would be at 3 PM. One of the girls at the desk was not kind at all, but the other provided a relative good service.
I'd recommend this hotel to those who are traveling to Copenhaguen and don't want to spend a big fortune in lodging: the price I found was not cheap, but considering the the other options and location this one seemed above the average level.

I was very disappointed with the Ascot.
I was in the hotel, but 'upgraded' to the apartments, goodness knows what the hotel rooms were like.
It was noisy, the bathroom was poor, it was a long way to the bar.
Maybe I was down right miserable, but I wouldn't stay there again!

The proximity between the Latin Quarter and the train station is amazingly central to everything...
When I arrived early they accomodated me after i resisted the Scandanavian service "That is Not Possible" glitch. Having a mini kitchen was great...the dining area was nice and the living room was sufficient...The bed was also sufficient :( . The was a large amount of closet space and having a seperate half bath was a nice touch...As long as you remember that you are paying for the room size...this apartment is a nice alternative to a hotel stay and helps you feel the local culture to a greater degree.
