Ich habe zweimal geschäftlich in diesem Hotel übernachtet, einmal um einen Frühflug aus Roissy CDG Flughafen zu bekommen und einmal, da ich auf den Eurostar Zug nach London gebucht war. Das erste Mal fand ich die Lage sehr angenehm. Ich konnte zwar meinem Zimmernachbarn beim Telefonieren gegen 22:00 Uhr zuhören und fand, dass die Isolierung nicht sehr gut war, aber man konnte es ertragen. Beim zweiten Mal hatte ich für zwei Nächte gebucht, da ich hin und zurück an einem Tag nach London wollte. Die erste Nacht war schrecklich: das Zimmer Nr. 401 ist direkt neben dem Aufzug. Ich fand es sehr störend, den Lift zu hören und auch die Leute, die ein und ausgestiegen sind. Gegen 1:30 Uhr nachts konnte ich einem Pärchen, die anscheinend einen sehr angenehmen Abend in Paris hatten, beim Liebemachen zuhören. Ich hatte das Gefühl, dass sie in meinem Zimmer wären. Ich muss wohl nicht erwähnen, dass ich die zweite Nacht storniert habe und mir ein anderes Hotel gesucht habe. Ich werde nicht wieder hier übernachten.

Die Zimmer Zimmer im Aulivia sind heruntergekommen und klein, jedoch sauber und man kann sich auf das Hotel verlassen. (Die Wände sind tatsächlich klein, aber es gibt keine Ungeziefer, wie einer der anderen Gäste behauptet hat). Was den 10ten Bezirk betrifft, so ist er nicht schlecht, es ist ein typischer Arbeiterbezirk mit Einwandern aus Indien, der Türkei und dem afrikanischen Kontinent. Die Leute sind nett und diejenigen, die an der U-Bahnstation herumhängen händigen nur Werbeblätter für Fingernagelstudios aus. Die Gegend ist natürlich nicht so glamourös wie die Gegend um den Champs-Elysees, aber wenn man nur ein begrenztes Budget hat, dann schätzt man das köstliche Frühstück beim Inder für nur 7 Euro. Der weltbekannte New Morning Jazz Club befindet sich nur wenige Meter vom Hotel entfernt. Generell ist die Best Western Hotelkette eine Budgetkette, die Hotels in weniger luxuriösen Gegenden anbietet. Das Shaftsbury in London ist ähnlich wie das Aulivia, außer dass das Aulivia wenigstens ein Frühstück und eine Morgenzeitung (auf französisch natürlich) anbietet.

The Aulivia rooms are shabby and small, but clean, and the hotel is reliable. (The walls are indeed thin, but there are no bedbugs as a previous customer claimed.) As for the 10th arrondissement, it's not bad, it's just a working-class Indian, Turkish and African area. People are friendly and the guys hanging around the metro are just trying to hand out flyers for nail salons. No, the area's not glamorous like the Champs-Elysees, but if you're on a budget, you'll appreciate the delicious 7 euro Indian lunches, and the world-famous New Morning jazz club is only a few yards away. Generally, Best Western is an economy chain with locations that aren't in the most luxurious areas. The Shaftsbury in London is similar to the Aulivia, except the Aulivia at least provides breakfast and the morning paper (in French, of course).

I stayed at this Hotel for Business twice to catch an early flight from Roissy CDG airport and a Eurostar train to London. First time, I found the location very convenient. I heard a guy on the phone from the room next to mine around 10PM and I found the soundproofing a bit poor but tolerable. Second time I planned to stay 2 nights as I was to make a round trip to London. First night was horrible : the room n° 401 is next to the lift. I felt very intrusive the noise of machinery and people getting of the lift. At 1:30 PM, a couple coming back from an enjoyable evening in Paris ended the night making love in a demonstrative way. I had the feeling they were doing that in my room. Needless to say that I cancelled the second night I chose another location. I won't stay at this hotel again.

Je suis allé deux fois à cet hôtel en voyage d’affaires, une fois car j’avais un avion à prendre de bonne heure à Roissy CDG et l’autre fois pour aller à Londres en Eurostar. La première fois, j’avais trouvé que c’était très pratique comme emplacement. Mais vers 10h du soir, j’ai entendu mon voisin de chambre qui parlait au téléphone et trouvé que l’isolation n’était pas terrible, bien que supportable. La deuxième fois, je comptais rester deux nuits car je devais faire un aller et retour à Londres. La première nuit a été horrible, j’avais la chambre 401 près de l’ascenseur. Le bruit de la machinerie et des gens qui entraient et sortaient de l’ascenseur était très pénible. A 1h30 du matin, un couple qui rentrait d’une agréable soirée dans Paris a passé le reste de la nuit à faire l’amour de manière fort démonstrative. J’avais carrément l’impression qu’ils étaient dans ma chambre. Inutile de dire que j’ai annulé ma seconde nuit et choisi un autre hôtel. Ce n’est pas un hôtel où je retournerai.
