My wife & I spent a few days in Desenzano at the Europa and had a superb break. The hotel is clean and we found the rooms to be comfortable & spacious. Our room looked over the lake and it was wonderful to open the window in the morning and look out on the water.
Someone has previously said that the road was very noisy but we didn't find this at all. The double glazing kept out almost all of the noise and there are shutters which block out even more. The shutters also cut pout all the light so are ideal for an afternoon nap !
The bath had a small area of enamel peeling off near the plughole but that was our only complaint with the room.
The hotel is located about 5 minutes walk from the ferry terminal and town centre. it is a very pleasant walk along the lake to get there.
The staff at the hotel were helpful and welcoming. The owners don't speak English but we managed fine and the rest of the staff speak enough to be understood.
A previous review mentioned the coffee machine in the breakfast room as being a problem. We found it no problem at all and the hot chocolate was excellent.
If you want a great B&B hotel at a good price then I would highly recommend the Hotel Europa.

My husband & I spent a week in Desenzano at the Europa and had a thoroughly enjoyable break. The hotel is clean and we found the rooms to be comfortable & spacious. Our room overlooked the lake so it was wonderful to open the window in the morning and look out on the water. Someone has said that the road was very noisy but we didn't find this. The double glazed windows kept out most of the noise and there are shutters which block out even more. In fact on the first night we closed the shutters and because they block out all the light we didn't wake up until 9.30am thus missing our first breakfast. However when we did get downstairs we were made coffees in the bar & the waitress brought us out some coissants.
The hotel is located about 4/5 minutes walk from the ferry terminal & it's a very pleasant stroll along the lakeside.
Desenzano itself is a great place to stay. Having stayed at the top end of the lake previously it was great to be able to go to other places easily. We took the train to Venice & would recommend using the normal double decker train if possible. It was chaos but great fun! Also we found that it only took an hour from the airport to the hotel using the shuttle bus to Verona train station then the train to Desenzano. It was also incredibly cheap - 4.5 euro each for the bus & 8 euro each for the train.
The town of Desenzano is really lively at nights especially at the weekend and it was great to sit in the square and watch everyone taking their evening walk.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful and were happy to call taxis for us or make us a coffee when we got back for the day. Ok so the owners don't speak English but we managed fine & the rest of the family spoke enough for us to be understood.
A previous review mentioned that there weren't coffee making facilities in the rooms but this isn't a problem as there were bottles of water in the mini bar. Also it's very rare to get coffee making facilities in rooms on the Continent so I wouldn't even have expected it.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Ok the rooms may be a little bit dated but they were very clean & comfortable & for the amount of time we actually spent in them they did the job perfectly.
If you want a good bed & breakfast at a really good price then I would highly recommend the Hotel Europa.

The location is excellent. My room is faced to the beautiful lake.
Good view to Lake Garda and peaceful around the hotel . The room is clean , very nice nice and good breakfast. The family runs the hotel very good , especially Mr. Alessandro Albiero is very nice and kind to us : we are nearly to miss the train because we can't find the taxi but he drove us to the train station in time.
If we go to Italy again, we will get back to the hotel.

We have just returned from a 7-day break using this hotel as our base for seeing as much of Lake Garda as poss. The hotel is situated at the end of of the town and is rather bleak in its first appearance. It sits directly on the main thoroughfare so tended to be rather noisy due to the incessant traffic passing by.
The hotel desperately needs modernising - although we thought the restaurant may have been recently refurbished but the rest of the hotel really was decorated 60s era and tired. Having said that, our room had a lovely view, although no balcon, and was extremely clean.
Breakfast was definitely lacking in variety of available choices. Considering we were in Italy, renown for its coffee, the nescafe vending machine which was the only provision for coffee/tea/chocolate, was a complete letdown for that first morning cuppa (no tea-making facilities were in the room). It was undrinkable!!
No-body in the hotel spoke English except for a very pleasant waitress who seemed to run the whole show! The bar was impersonal which was in the reception area and overseen by the elderly Italian owners.

The Hotel Europa is in a good location in desenzano. Just a 3 minute walk to the ferry terminal providing easy access to the rest of the lake. Transfer from verona brescia airport was roughly 20 minutes by taxi at not too much expense, alternatively you can get the bus into brescia, then the train directly to desenzano. We found the staff at the hotel to be friendly (as we have often found at family run hotels) and check in and check out was quick and efficient. The room was a little dated but a good size and the bathroom was spotless. We also had a small fridge which is unusual in a 3 star hotel but really useful. You don't get a very good view in the rooms at the rear but the lake view rooms at the front probably suffer from traffic noise as the main road is directly between the hotel and the lake. Breakfast was pretty good. Choice of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts etc. Overall we found it to be a great value hotel.
