Only had a day in Catania & had to get up very early for a flight. The rooms were clean & nicely decorated - lots of character. Perfectly located, close to everything less than a block from the Duomo. Staff were OK. Weren't there long enough to try the breakfast.

The room and bathroom were much bigger than average. The air conditioning was great (especially as there was a major heat wave). Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Internet access was available via a laptop for no charge, and a small charge for printing. Breakfast was good - a very wide range to suit all tastes. The hotel is very central - just a few minutes from the main square and the main shopping street. Only downside was the traffic noise from the street outside, which wasn't a major issue with the shutters closed.

Chose this hotel based on trip adv. reviews. 95e about average for cost of hotels in Sicily. We stayed 3 nights arriving from airport by taxi (25e), but take city bus right in front of international baggae claim(few euros). Totally satisfied. We had front facing room with view of duomo, french windows to look out at the street scene below. Not too noisey at night. Well appointed room and bath. (Saw a friends room at Una Palace--much smalledr dark, more expensive.) Right around corner from via Etnea shopping street, few blocks to great fish market(best in Sicily), bus station with public bus to airport 487 I think. Also buses to other destinations. Main bus stations (there are two next to each other) are near the train station a do-able walk. Good b'fast buffet, one of best selections we found, large room. We also stayed on our last night in Sicily. We got a suite with 4 rooms! I was so shocked I went to ask the price. "Same price as before, madam" Restaurant recommendation: Rest/pizzaria Al Cortile Alessi about 3 blks from hotel. Ask desk for directins, they recommended it. Grt. salads, pizza, pasta, friendly staff, we ate there four times, on last night after returning to Catania after 4 wks in Sicily the main waiter greeted me like long lost family.

This is a great hotel! Beautiful and clean everywhere, good breakfast with a superb cappuccino, friendly and helpful staff, ideal location. Rooms seem to be recently refurbished with nice decor and modern air conditioning, TV with CNN included. There are also a few negative aspects: Clumsy room key, and you need a key for the in-room safety box (10 EUR deposit); the room "key" ought to be a credit card, and the safe should be accessible by PIN code. The hard tile floors give noise from corridors, audible in rooms. To reach the hotel from the airport, take the Alibus, no. 457, get off at Piazza Borsellino (after you see McDonald's) and walk the last piece.
