Having spent a long time looking at the Hotels in Turin prior to my visit, I wanted something a little bit special for a romatic weekend away. I was disappointed that the Hotel, whilst clean, the facilities were less than acceptable for a 4 star Hotel.
Room service was non existant after 10pm. The bar closed at 10pm. The Restaurant boasted on the Hotel website was not open for Dinner , only for breakfast. The mini bar in the room was not fully stocked. Glasses one day in the room, not the next. Room turned down one night not the next.
Breakfast produce in the restaurant, one day it was full, the next empty and the scrambled eggs burnt, cold as was the bacon they served.
The staff were extremely efficient in the restaurant, although we were regularly served cold coffee. Celestino, the Bar Manager, was very efficient and helpful, and he was delighted to assist. He also seemed to be the chief cook, and bottlewasher, coveing a multitude of tasks, from cooking to, serving, to clearing, to room service.
Such a beautiful Hotel, sadly it is in need of some major modernisation, and rejuvenation .I was disappointed in my overall stay at the Hotel, although it was comfortable

We booked a triple room at this hotel for a 2 night stay. The location of the Turin Palace is excellent - the shuttle bus stop for Turin Airport is literally around the corner, so there is no need to try and find taxis etc to get to the hotel.
The hotel has an imposing entrance lobby; check-in was quick and efficient. Our room was on the 5th floor, and as we stepped out of the lift, our spirits sank somewhat, as the corridor was very gloomy with grubby walls and looked like a cheap apartment block rather than a 4 star hotel (we glimpsed a corridor on the 2nd floor which was in a different class - very plush!). Our room however was huge, as was the bathroom (huge, deep bath and separate shower, and 2 sinks) - I must say it was not very modern (none of the furniture matched and was a bit 'tacky') BUT it was very clean and the beds were very comfortable, and a surprise turn-down service was a nice touch. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but a mini-bar and hair dryer are provided. So all in all we were happy - booking triple rooms can sometimes be a bit of a lottery, but in this case the ample space more than compensated for the lack of modernity.
Breakfast was included in our package, and this was really excellent. No complaints whatsoever - the restaurant is quite lovely, and tables are properly set with white linen etc. They also have a nice bar area where we had drinks both evenings - very friendly barman and a nice, relaxed atmosphere.
Turin is a fantastic city - so much to see, lovely to stroll around, views of the Alps (if you're lucky with the weather and visibility) and still not too touristy. Locals did warn us however to be vigilant, as street crime has risen since the Olympics. Vast choice of restaurants and bars, all at very affordable prices. And make sure you try the local wines, cheeses (and ice cream) for which the Piedmont is famous - some restaurants only offer local wines, and the lists are huge! You can do everything on foot, but a good idea is to buy the Turin Card for EUR15 for 48 hrs which gives free entry to all museums, so it is fantastic value. It also covers a tourist bus which goes round the city, so you can jump on and off at your will, and it also covers some of the river boat cruises.
We will definitely go back to Turin again - we would probably stay at the Palace again, but if so, we might be a bit more discerning as to the type of room we are allocated.

Just watch Turin go!!

Just wanted to say that I have just returned from a trip to Turin staying in the Turin Palace. What a great hotel, the reception areas were beautiful, the breakfast scrumptious, when ordering drinks in the evening the waiter bought out so many nibbles such as cheese, olives, crisps, nuts, chocolates the works! i was fit to burst. The bedrooms were dated with a 70's feel but spacious and exceptionally clean, the maid service was prompt and attention to detial was impeccable. I would highly recommend this hotel for its location also, all you need within easy walking distance.
