We chose the Gresham for a weekend trip to Dublin. It is conveniently located (probably one of the two pluses), just near the needle, and 5 minutes walk to the shops, 10 minutes to Temple Bar. Also, the airport bus shuttle stops almost right in front of the hotel, so good spot.
We were given a very stuffy room, which did not have any airconditioning. So we gave reception a call, and someone finally came to check it out (we had to call 3 times!). After a good hour of debating, they finally agreed to give us another room! The other room must have been a family suite, as it's two double beds, in a very large open spaced room, with living/dining area, and chic decorations (though a very small bathroom in comparison to our original basic double room).
To be honest, the price for a standard room at the Gresham is just too overpriced for what you get - but this is Dublin, and most hotels are the same! But personally, I would not go back or recommend this place to anyone else.

A True Single Rate for an Executive Room
Guest name: BoyBat, West Yorkshire
I was able to book a Mid Week Bargain Break for Half the Rate of Two People in an Executive Room.
It was still a collossal 149.1/2 Euros P/n B & B. The room was excellent, very large, and had a perfect Bathroom with Walk in Shower as well as a Bath. View from the window was not inspiring, although I noticed Planning Permission is being sought to get rid of the Service Pipes and Ducting. The location is ideal, Dublin Buses are just outside the Hotel.
A tip is buy a Rover Ticket at Tourist Information at the Airport. It will get you to and from the Hotel and unlimited Bus services.
The breakfast was good and plentiful.
The only problem I had was deciding to eat in the Restaurant one evening. The waiter told me he did not have a table for two hours, this at 6.35pm. It was patently untrue. He saw me look around and changed it to 10.30pm !. And then explained he had a party of 30 arriving in fifteen minutes. I just hopped on a Bus to Nassau Street, and still caught the Early Bird at Georges Bistro, in Frederick Street. I cannot speak highly enough of the food there.
LOVELY!

Terrible breakfast
Guest name: LondonHeather, London
Its the worst quality breakfast in Dublin!
The food was such poor quality, and the service was terrible, the room where breakfast was served was dirty and the staff just ignored you.
How they can charge so much to stay there is beyond me. Dont get breakfast included go somewhere else.
Good location. Good rooms. Good food. Good staff. Great stay!

Overview: The Gresham is a large and historic 4 star property located in Dublin City Centre. It can apparently trace it’s roots back as far as 1817 and boasts numerous famous guests over the years including; from Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly to Oasis and some “famous” footballers I hadn’t heard of (some contrast there!).
Location: The grand fa?ade fronts Dublin’s main boulevard of O’Connell Street and is within easy walking distance of the shopping districts of Grafton Street and St. Stephen’s Green to the south of the river and Crooke Park to the north. The Temple Bar area is also within walking distance.
Car Park: Parking is to the rear of the main building and a wee bit tricky to find. There are, however, directions on the hotel website and I would recommend you print these off before you go. The Car Park seems secure enough and there is a lift to take you into the main hotel. This is where things get a bit confusing… the car park is in the “Lavery Wing” and the lift takes you out onto the second floor of there; you the have to traipse through hotel corridors to a second set of lifts to take you down to the main lobby.
Check In: Check in was perhaps the most efficient I have ever experienced and we were quickly shown to our room by a very welcoming member of staff. (Check out was equally efficient). Throughout our stay, the staff could not have done enough for us.
Room: Our room was in the older part of the hotel and had clearly benefited from a recent refurbishment. It was spacious and well equipped with all one would expect from a hotel of this calibre including; free broadband, trouser press, tea making facility, mini bar and a safe which was big enough to fit my laptop. There was some problem with the air conditioning when we stayed, but I was able to address this by opening the window, which, incidentally, provided me with a stunning vista over the city skyline (and if you don’t look down you will be spared the view of the kitchens!).
Restaurant: We had dinner in the Gallery Restaurant one evening. The menu was quite comprehensive and catered for vegetarian and carnivore alike. Service was good and we received complimentary sorbets to “cleanse the pallet”. The house wine was excellent and the entire menu was really quite reasonably priced. The d?cor was perhaps a tad dated and this clearly doubles as the breakfast room, but all in all, I was quite satisfied. We had breakfast in our room, which was well worth the 7 euro supplement.
Overall: Good location. Good rooms. Good food. Good staff. Great stay!
