I was very pleased by this hotel. Possibly because it was I was unfamiliar with the district (11th) and didn't know what to expect.
First of all, to address the complaints about room sizes, nobody should expect large rooms in Europe (unless you pay a lot of $$$). The room was not large, but it was perfectly adequate and very clean. The bathroom was also small but spotless. The breakfast was perfectly fine (with wrapped cheese slices and crackers that you can stuff in your purse for later), and the staff were mostly friendly. The district itself was adorable.

Stayed here end of May 2008. Paid ?99 a night through expedia over the bank holiday weekend. Certainly wasn't cheap but if you're looking for cheap then don't head to Paris! Hotel staff were friendly. We were on the 4th floor at the back of the hotel and the room was small with literally enough space for a double bed and a little wardrobe but more than adequate since we weren't there to sit in the hotel. Shower was fine as well, always hot and powerful. Breakfast was fine as well, standard continental fare which filled a gap in the morning.
The room was also very quiet. Rue de Charonne isn't exactly amazingly beautiful but felt safe and was 30 seconds from Charonne metro and about 8 mins walk from Alexandre Dumas which you can get to on the metro 2 line from Gare du Nord/Chapelle if you're coming on the Eurostar. We spent two days at Disney as well and was about 10 mins walk from Nation where trains departed to the park.
Recommend the bisto Malac round the corner for somewhere really French to eat. The little place next door wasn't bad either if you just want some basic cheap food and you're too lazy to walk anywhere else.

Pretty good hotel in a great part of Paris (10 minute walk from Rue de Lappe and Place de la Bastille). Rooms were clean and nicely kept, although a little small. Hotel staff were pretty friendly and breakfast was very nice (continental breakfast - cereal, croissants, etc). I got a good deal by booking direct on the hotel website, getting 2 nights for ?250, with 2 Paris museum passes for free which meant me and the other half could queue jump and get in free at most museums in Paris. Well worth it!

Noisy from the street, though we requested a quiet room. The noise ended at about 22:00. Prehistoric TV with remote that didn't work. Breakfast is not astounding.
Metro station is really near, center is 20 min ride. Internet was 1.5 EURO for 30 min. Had a balcony.
I was disappointed with Paris too - it is overrated, overpriced and overtouristy. Didn't take my breath away. Go see real France in small towns & country side.
Pleasant hotel, nice staff, good location

Pleasant hotel in a nice area. Very close to the metro stop "Charonne" (about a minute's walk). The rooms are nicely decorated, clean and modern. They are adequate in size. We asked for a room at the back of the hotel facing the courtyard so there was no traffic noise, although there was a very faint buzzing noise which might disturb any highly sensitive sleepers. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. There is an excellent patisserie shop a couple of shops down the road and also shops specialising in selling wine, cheese etc although we did not try those, but they looked nice shops. Some excellent offers if you book directly through their website. Our stay included a 2-day museum pass each worth 30euros each and we paid 230 euros in total for two people for two nights including breakfast. Breakfast was pretty good, cereal, croissants, fruit juice, bread, salami, yoghurt etc.
