my husband and i have just spent a night at scalford hall. its in the midst of some lovely country views. we booked an package for ?99 which inludes 3 course dinner bed and breakfast.
the hotel deserves 3 stars the room was just standard although looking around there was some suites which were probably more luxury but we thought that what we got was good value for money. the dinner was good we had a selection of 3 or 4 starters mains and deserts and ate in a private dining room. there was a wedding reception going on that nite and even though they were very busy with that they still made sure the other hotel guests were looked after. all in all we had a nice quiet night away.

I surprised my partner with an overnight stay at the hotel with a package which included afyernoon tea, dinner, bed and breakfast booked via the hotel's website. There was a wedding on the Saturday we were there that wasn't mentioned at the time of booking but it didn't interfere with our stay, although we did have to wait for a member of staff to book us in. We chose the time for our afternoon tea and dinner whilst booking in. Joyce, our waitress for the afternoon and evening was wonderful..... nothing was too much trouble and she stopped and had a quick chat with us which was lovely. The wedding didn't impact on the service or atmosphere in the dining room and the choice of food on the menu was very good and tasted great. Breakfast was a calm experience and was a hearty affair. The room was lovely and big with everything you'd expect from a three star hotel (minus some tissues) and Molton Brown toiletries and even biscuits with the tea tray.
Overall, we enjoyed our getaway and would return soon. With lovely countryside and Melton Mowbray just 5 minutes drive away you couldn't ask for more.

My husband and I stayed at this lovely hotel recently for 2 nights at very reasonable cost - the only thing that went wrong was the weather, pretty wet but we did have some sunshine upon arrival which showed the grounds to their best advantage.
I have to say that I fully agree with the previous review of DonJan_Wirral and really cannot add further to his excellent review.

My wife and I took her mother for her 81st birthday to Scalford Hall, booking it for Afternoon Tea, Dinner, B&B. The reviews seemed good and our sight of the wonderful hall from the long meandering drive was welcoming. There were a lot of cars in the carpark (this was Sunday night), due to a large party in the ballroom.
We were welcomed by the Operations Manager, who checked us in and took our bags to the rooms. He then arranged for our afternoon tea in the Butler's Pantry, a room full of armchairs and coffee tables. The tea arrived, scones, cakes and a large pot of tea, beautifully served by the friendly Joyce, who also served our dinner.
The rooms were of a very good standard, bearing in mind that this is a management conference centre, recently opened as a 3 star hotel as well. The TV was large flatscreen with Freeview, a built-in wardrobe with safe, enough tea/coffee for us both (only one biscuit pack though), a spare pillow and a view of the immaculate lawns. The bathroom was small, with only a shower, no bath - but that suited us.
Dinner was a choice of 3 or four starters, mains and desserts, in the Private Dining Room - a rather austere room, but the service by Joyce, complete witha potted history of this historic hotel (the game of Cluedo was based on this hall), made the meal excellent. The food was superb, but the chef refused to give me the recipe for his roasted vbegetable soup!
Afterwards, the Operations manager opened up the ballroom for us to watch Wimbledon final in comfort. We were soon joined by him, Joyce and the chef - all in all, a very enjoyable and welcoming experience!
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip - the hall is superb, the grounds immaculate and the staff were amazing!
We will return for one of their themed nights!
