I had four nights in an Executive Deluxe Room in May 2008. Check in was efficient at the 17th level Executive Lounge with the staff expecting us.
The room itself was renovated but still felt a bit old fashioned. Turndown service was intermittent and there were not the extra amenities you would expect for an executive room. There was no issue of size for the room and the 50" plasma was great. The addition of an opening window was a rare wonderous thing.
The executive lounge, whilst small has a nice feel to it and a nice happy hour with some nice snacks. Breakfast is excellent with a much wider choice than you often find in these lounges.
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly from the executive lounge to the concierge. They were great at organising tours and arranging transfers - nothing was too much trouble.
I would certainly recommend the hotel.

was on a lindblad national geographic boat to galapagos & as I flew out/in of quito was booked on the 1st & last day of the tour into this hotel
I have nothing against the chain hotels like hilton as you always know what you'll get, ie clean bedsheets, nice shampoo (crabtree), coffee maker, etc
this is a nice hotel that can accomodate big groups and is located across the street from one of the Quito parks (with artists selling their work) in between old & new town, one block away from the definitely do not miss national banco museo
both of my rooms (on my 1st day of tour & last) faced the park & had a nice view, food was ok, I just prefer the hotel patio andaluz which had more charm and personality but it depends on what you're looking for (stayed there for 2 nights as well)
if you're with a huge group or looking for a cookie cutter experience the Hilton is the best

Enjoyed everything about the Quito Hilton. Service, food, and room was great! The hotel was spotless! They even have a casino for your entertainment! Room service is fast and delicious. Didn't see a club sandwich on the menu, but asked if they could prepare one for me. The answer was SURE and it was the best one I have EVER had!
This hotel gets 5 STARS from me! Super Duper!!!
