This is very an upscale hotel in a very nice section of San Salvador. This is such a nice and safe hotel that most visiting foreign presidents stay here.
The hotel is very clean and the staff gives excellent service. There is a restaurant with first class food, a nice cozy bar, gift shop. business center with internet, a cigar shop (which also sells Cuban cigars), and a spacious lounge area where there is a large screen tv and at times live music. There is also a nice gym with sauna, steam room, and whirlpool. Outside there is a pool and also an area where you may dine poolside.
The sounding area is very safe and is near restaurants, bars, public transportation (taxi, bus), and around the corner there is a supermarket and a pharmacy is across the street. One thing that can bother some people is that it is located in the Zona Rosa (the hot spot to be on Friday nights and Saturday nights), so if you get a room that faces the McDonald's across the street, you may here the music from the dance clubs also located on the side. The music is kept out pretty well. Next to the hotel is a nice high class shopping area and first class restaurants.
Also, many of the foreign embassies (French, Colombia, Brazilian, etc) are located within walking distance of the hotel.
I love this hotel so much, that even though I stayed with friends in later visits to the country, I contiied to go to the hotel for the gym (which you can pay to use if you are not a hotel guest) and eat in the resturant.

Never Stay Here Again !!

After looking for a more "Salvadorean" atmosphere hotel and unable to find one, we decided to stay at the Hilton Princess hotel. However, it did not offer anything spectacular. It's just a four wall hotel in a third world country displaying first world design and price/rates. I'm sure you can find a better hotel for less on Broadway/Times Square (New York City).
My experience at this hotel was very poor. The staff (front desk) was unfriendly and rude.

Very nice hotel with a spacious room. The view out of the room was average, potentially a better view on a clear day. The room was clean and offered an iron/ironing board, TV, desk, wireless internet. The safe did not work but I had no issues with any of my valuables not that they were left in sight!
Several restaurants close by (walking), breakfast buffet at hotel was great and over looked the pool. Good service at the bar.
Check in for your flight at the airline travel office located in the hotel lobby.

We stayed at this hotel for one night at the executive floor. It is a great hotel for what we want. The restaurant was good and not expensive. They also provided free drinks including alcohol during our whole stay at the hotel. I would stay there again if I ever return to San Salvador
