I'm not going to be as hard on this hotel as I could be because it's kind of an interesting place. For most people, this would only get one dot, but if you're like me and enjoy the charm of weird places, you might like this place... just not when it's 90 degrees outside.
First, you'll notice that their website is a little cheesy and old. They have no way to book online (not that I'd trust a system that old with my card anyway). I probably wouldn't have chosen this hotel based on their website if I had a choice, but the convention we were going to (OMG!!!Con) was "downtown", and there were NO other hotels there.
We got a pretty good price on the room, less than $80 with tax, and the rooms themselves were quite nice. They were very large with lots of closet space, a mini-fridge, and a full table and chairs. The riverview rooms, which cost $15 more, had cute little balconies with a pretty view of the Ohio River.
Our first impression of the hotel was that it was a converted office building (although my fiance thought it looked like a prison). It had a huge cement fence around it that featured a giant open gate, which was where we drove in. The parking is hard to figure out at first, but we finally realized you park UNDER the building instead of around it. Check-in was rather painless although the man at the desk was rude and took forever with the people in front of us.
The hotel was neat right away. There was a carriage in the lobby, and the whole area had a dated look, like it hadn't been renovated since the 70s.
We took about a half-hour finding our room because the numbering is screwed up. We didn't realize there was no air-conditioning until we were sweating profusely while carrying all of our stuff back and forth through the hotel.
On our way, we got to see the "Galleria Shops", which were almost all empty (the only open one was the restaurant, but there was a closed liquor store as well, right across the hall from a church). From the second flooor, the whole thing looked like a half-finished area from The Sims: Hot Date, with checkered tile floors ending at crimson carpets. We thought it was really cool, and that's one of the things that earned the hotel points. Otherwise, the place was a ghost town.
Once we found our room and turned on the room's A/C, we headed out for the convention area. The convention area was quite nice. It was all in one place but spaced out enough for people to walk down the hallway in costume. There were two problems though, which were that there were three over-flowing trash cans in the area (obviously left there for days because the convention had just started) and there was NO AIR CONDITIONING! Oh, yes, and there was also a trash can in the middle of the hallway catching water dripping from the ceiling. And one of the elevators was broken. Oh, and they put all of the congoers' rooms all the way down the hall from the convention area so that we had to walk through the sweltering heat to get to the slightly less hot convention center.
On Saturday evening, we ate in the hotel restaurant. The service was crawling-slow because the only person working was a pregnant woman who looked about my age. Finally another woman came out of the woodwork to help her (I think she may have been a manager). The food was quite good, though. The burgers and chicken were juicy and hot. The fries were great, but no one provided us with ketchup until I asked.
Check out was a breeze, even though we had to give our keys back (real keys, mind you), and the cleaning staff greeted us whenever we walked down the hallway.

It's a prison that you have to pay for

Don't take your wife here unless you want a divorce.
This is a $29 / night hotel at best.
We had very little water pressure and we ran out of hot water. We were told the rooms were non-smoking but they smelled really bad. The shower/tub had cigarette burns and the caulking had mold growing on it. The toilet rocked when you sat down on it. The window looking outside was extremely dirty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for over a year. The air conditioner did not keep up the heat in the building even though it was only 80 degrees outside. The carpets in the lobby were worn out and stained. One of the skylights was broken and allowed rain to come into the lobby. We noticed several ceiling tiles in the hallways that were about to fall down. The breakfast cafe gave you plastic silverware to eat with and styrofoam cups to drink out of. We were on the 4th floor and none of the ice machines worked. We finally found one that worked on the 2nd floor.
One of our friends attended a quilting class and forgot to check out on time. They charged her an additional $125 for a late check-out.
Another friend had her medication in the refrigerator. The refrigerator froze her Pepsi which caused it to burst and destroyed her medication. The front desk told her that they didn't have the funding to replace her medication.
Some of the friends we were with said that it reminded them of "Sing Sing" the prison.
The surrounding countryside is beautiful, so why not drive a little bit and stay somewhere nicer.

Our family came to the OMG Convention on June 6th and it was not a real good site. When my husband called for dirrections he was hung up on and the desk clerk was so rude. He was in a hurry it seemed and no one was even in line. The web-site said Shopping, Entertainment but there was NO pay phones that worked, NO shopping, NO entertainment and NO ATM. If comming you better go to bank before you get here. Rates should have been $40.00 a night and sure not $75.00. We looked in the bathoom and the cleaning lady left the open shampoo and soap running down the tub and it was by the previous guest. It was terrible.....Maybe when they get the renovation done it will be nicer.......we hope!

Don't waste any money on this hotel. The rooms are dirty, with furniture and accents that should have been replaced 10 years ago. Mold was visible in my bathroom. The entire room smelled from cigarettes and we had requested a non-smoking room. Air conditioning worked somestimes as did the power. There were days when we had no hot water and there were days that the room was not cleaned by houskeeping staff. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. They really should be closed by the health department.

We were going to paducah ky. because the american legion was having a spring convention for us members we went to paducah ky and came to jrs executive inn on april-07-2006 when we got there the bell hop was on the ball at getting our suit cases and stuff out of the car. my ex-mother inlaw went inside to see if our rooms were ready.
she came out and said our rooms were not ready yet. the bell hop said he would take our suit cases and stuff to a safe room why we waited in the hallway. instead we went to our party room. room 3326. we found the room very big it had a wet bar and couchs and chairs to sit down at. they even had a back porch on the 4th floor.
sharon my ex-mother inlaw went down to the check in lobby to see if our rooms were ready. jessica my little had a bite to eat at the little buffet we had and i did to and so did my ex- grandmother inlaw. then sharon came back with our keys. she gave katherine my ex-grandmother inlaw her key then handed me my keys and a piece of paper with my room number on it
then my ex- grandmother inlaw had to go to her room to to take a nap. sharon said that in a while we would have to go to jeremiahs restaurant to meet john and cindy and jacob my ex- brother inlaw his wife and son. soon it came time for us to go to our rooms to change. we change our clothes. then we met john after we got off the lift
then we fallowed john to the restaurant. we ate there. then we paid our bills and everybody left real quick. we were lost finelly sharon calls john to find us. then he found us we went back to the hotel. and sharon dropped me and katherine off at the lobby why she went to park the car. there was a storm. lighting flashing everywhere. then me and katherine went inside then boom the lights went out the emergency lights came on
sharon came in and asks what happen i told her the lights went out. we went to the check in desk lobby and sat in the dark for 4 hours. what happen is a bolt of lighting hit the transformer that powered the whole hotel. the power comany guys were there as well as the paducah firefighters. it took them 4 hours to get power back to the hotel. then boom half the power came on to the hotel. we went to our rooms. i found the room very clean and nice everything was nice. i went to sleep for a few hours
then i got up took a shower got dressed. then went next store to my ex-laws room. sharon was ready for the convention then mike our head commander called on the cell phone and told sharon the convention was cancelled and we were to go home. we went to johns and cindy house. i know this is not jrs executive inns fault things do happen beyond our control. we are coming back in april 2008. we will be back.
