A brilliant hotel in a quite corner of Phuket. I loved it here but not the distance to the main parts of Phuket. If its a quiet relaxing holiday you're after then its a great place but not if you on a budget and wanting to be close to the main towns and beaches. Its quite a drive from the airport but once you arrive at the hotel its worth it. Originally we went to the wrong reception area...there's two for some strange reason? and we were a little disappointed but once shown to the correct one we knew its was going to be a wonderful place to stay. We had an apartment with a brilliant view over the swimming pool and the beach!! Our apartment was lovely too, very clean and spacious. We ate out at either the hotels resturants (there's plenty to choose from) or the different resturants along the road. The only downfall was the hotels buffet breakfast, if you didn't get there when it started you'd be eating cold food. There's a local free bus which runs from this hotel to Cape Panwa, its a joining hotel which is a little more up market (and expensive). We went to explore one night had one drink and returned back to our hotel to eat as the prices are a rip off. There's plenty of taxis outside the entrance of the hotel but haggle the price of them and agree a price before leaving as they try to get as much out of you as they can.

On arrival at this hotel we were informed that our room had been overbooked until the 21st and we were moved to their sister hotel, the Cape Panwa(see seperate review). On the 21st after arrving at reception at the Cape Panwa we were told we were now not moving until the 23rd, something nobody had informed us about!
On the 23rd we eventually moved to the Kantary Bay.
You could not fault this hotel, rooms are spacious and clean even if a little dated. They have great sea views.
The resort itself is small peacful and quite perfect if you want a nice relaxing break. The hotel run a shuttle bus to Patong Beach at night if you want somewhere lively with good nightlife and bars. Its worth checking out but its nothing too special (looks a bit like benidorm!). The Ladyboys are a good laugh tough.
In Cape Panwa, Sawesdee is a good place to eat, good food and cheap prices. There is also a good Seafood restaurant, cant remember the name but if you take a right out of the hotel and walk as if you were leaving the resort you ll find it on your right. Sunset Bar is a great little spot for a drink. Russell the owner is very welcoming, he can orgainse trips which are much cheaper than what Kuoni are offering.
We went to Banana Beach twice, really nice beach and not as crowded as Maya and Phi Phi.
Overall a great place to stay but check with the hotel before you arrive that they havent overbooked your room!

I got to this hotel after a few hectic days in KL so it was lovely to be somewhere peaceful
We were upgraded to a one bedroom suite as opposed to a studio. The room was very large with kitchen lounge area fantastic views from the lounge out to sea, great sunsets, and the bedroom was very quiet clean and large bathroom with walk in shower and bath.
Breakfast was fine the usual fare, the best benefit was being able to use the cape panwa hotel which is the sister hotel over the hill a free bus runs as the hill is steep. the hotel has its own private beach and is truly fantastic. Its nice to be in an area not like patong which is like any other tourist resort anywhere in the world we did go there for dinner one night but not really my scene!
Overall great hotel and fantastic for the price

The Bay Hotel is situated in the village of Cape Panwa - it's a very secluded and peaceful place - far removed from Patong. The rooms are comfortable with bedroom, kitchen area and living area plus bathroom with separate shower - the living room area has a DVD/CD player. The room we were in was in need of a bit of an update – a bit old fashioned but not scruffy. They have 2 swimming pools each located in a different wing of the hotel. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There are a couple of restaurants outside the hotel - and a bar called Sunset Bar around the corner where the owner Russell will get you some good deals on trips - we went to James Bond Island on the Panwa Canoe which was fantastic. If you get the free bus that is provided between the Bay and the Cape Panwa hotel - then walk back up the hill from the Cape Panwa there are a couple of nice restaurants, particularly 'Hill Top'. The restaurants and bars at the Cape Panwa are nice but very expensive - we had a meal at Panwa House which is on the beach - it was lovely. The breakfast is very nice lots to choose from. You can get the local bus from the Aquarium outside to the left of the hotel to Phuket Town for only 20 baht each - takes about 15 minutes. The hotel run a shuttle bus there too - and also run a shuttle bus to Patong - neither of which are very expensive. You are better off using these than the taxi drivers outside the hotel who jump on you as soon as you come out of the hotel - even if you are getting on the bus to the Cape Panwa ! The Bay Hotel is a lovely hotel in a fantastic location – I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
