We stayed at the Viengtai for 3 nights in December. The location- in terms of seeing the city- was great, but being one road away from Khao San Road it was very noisy at night- loud live music until 2am was hard to sleep through. The room was OK, nothing special, and breakfast fairly average (but omelettes on request very good!). Ultimately fine if you aren't worried about sleeping much, but those looking for a quiet- and perhaps slightly more comfortable- refuge after an evening out would be better elsewhere.

I stayed there in oct 2006 as part of my Intrepid tour. I booked an extra few days beforehand. Hotel was clean in lobby and clean room. Staff were okay and hotel location is pretty central to KSR area. It can be noisy if your room is facing front of hotel where there is sometimes late music from bars opposite.
Ate breakfast there once and it was pretty good.
overall a reasonable hotel but probably expensive for the area as i paid ?18 GBP/nights.
There is another hotel up the road (name beings with a R) which has a 24 internet cafe inside it which is very clean and cheaper but staff are cheeky.

Good location, near palace and river. Clean, staff is helpful, nice pool. Breakfast is Western and Asian styles plenty to eat which is included in the room cost. Good price for what you get. We made reservation for a king bed which was not available when we arrived so they upgraded us to a Deluxe Room had nice wood floor with Queen Bed which worked just fine. Had massage in lobby hotel very good and booked a Dinner Cruise also a must. Highly recommend for stay in Bangkok.

Stayed for 3 nights at the start of a tour of Thailand.
First room offered was v.basic and smelt damp, unfortunately this seems to be the case in a lot of hotels I have stayed in in Asia (humidity v rainy season).
I asked reception for an upgrade, I was willing to pay the difference, but they gave an upgrade free of charge which was very nice.
Breakfast was plentiful and we had no complaints.
Fantastic location, one block from Khao San Road.
Small swimming pool area, but the sun loungers are in the shade, but it was too hot to be sunbathing anyway.
Would definately recommend this hotel, for the location and for value for money.. :-)
