...of a hotel in the middle of Rome at a reasonable price? Hotel Sonya had it during a 5-day visit with my wife...
- helpful, friendly staff
- good location
- nice-sized rooms
- cleanliness
- free internet access
- good breakfasts
- safe area, easy to find
- good restaurants, eateries and amenities nearby
- reasonable price
- chocolates on the pillow at night? Nah, they didn't have it. But the staff was so nice, we were bringing them chocolates.
Great value for us during our stay.
(Obviously we had a good visit to Rome and Sonya had a lot to do with it.)

I booked directly through the hotel website and it was very easy and straight forward. It was within walking distance from the train station. A bit of a hike to all the "must see's" in Rome, but for the $$ it was worth the extra walk. The hotel was clean, safe, and the staff were friendly. We spent 3 full days in Rome and still did not have enough time to see everything. I would stay here again.

We stayed here for one night due to its proximity to Termini (5 minute walk). When we first arrived, we were concerned because they told us we were going to be staying in a different building. We had no reason to worry -- our room was newly renovated, and was only located a half block away from the main hotel. Although small, the room was newly renovated and had a very comfortable bed.

Good value at the Hotel Sonya

Good position 5 minutes from metro. Decent sized room - very well furnished and first class shower room. Excellent room service - very clean. Quite noisy at back of hotel but quiet at the front. Good continental breakfast and again very attentive staff. Good reception staff who booked tickets and taxis efficiently. Overall, excellent value for money for a three star hotel in an expensive city. Would recommend and revisit.

One of our bags was stolen from us in the lobby of this hotel during our check-in process as our attention was diverted in order to sign our documents for the staff. They did not appear to care about the situation when we realized we were missing one bag. We know we had the bag upon check-in because our passports were in there and we had just removed them for the staff to copy. These terrible people wouldn't even tell us how to get to the police station so that we could file a report. They claimed that their security cameras were not functional and that they did not see anyone take our bag. Luckily, our passports were in our hands but unfortunately several cameras worth well over one thousand dollars, our pre-paid train tickets and a recently purchased engagement ring to be presented on this trip were in this very special bag. It was a small carry-on. We finally made it to the police station on our own with little sleep and heavy hearts. We were told not to worry, we filed a report and were reassured that professional establishments carried insurance for this very purpose. We were persistent for staff follow-through of the situation throughout our short stay at this hotel and attempted communication during the rest of our stay in Italy and even for months back in the U.S. to no avail. They refused to help us in any way. They were truly seedy and ultimately suspicious considering their lack of professionalism and unwillingness to assist us. They patronized our efforts and practically laughed at our loss. We mangaged to have a brilliant Italian experience dispite this hell hole but we are surely more cautious with our hotel bookings and our belongings, especially during check-in.
