This is a very good hotel with friendly and competent reception staff. The room was fine although the bathroom showed minor wear & tear and I would not expect plastic mugs in a 4 star bathroom.
The restaurant here is very, very good. A beautiful room but also expert chefs and good service. They should advertise it much more widely.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of the centre of Oxford. Really worth going to but don't miss dinner in the restaurant.

I would have been reasonably happy to pay between ?80 and ?90 per night for this type of accommodation but the ?150 paid, I felt was extreme for the size and facilities of the room. I was particularly aggreived to see a huge advertisement outside the hotel offering rooms from ?55.
When I arrived (great location and easy parking) the booking in was easy and the staff on reception pleasant and helpful. However when I got to the room the key didn't fit the lock. This was resolved quickly but neither of the two guys that came to help introduced themselves, which as a single woman staying in a remote part of the hotel was a little worrying. The room was tastefully decorated but tiny... The hanging space was almost impossible to access!

my wife and I went to Oxford for the weekend with my in laws. When we arrived we were told that we was all paying the same rate ?140 per night but only two of us had breakfast included but the other tw owho booked through an agent was room only. They would not agree to include breakfast. The breakfast cost ?12.50 pperson.
The rooms do not look like they do on the website - a little bit fusty and old fashioned bedding. Although the rooms were clean.
The breakfast was very nice although the staff were rude. The breakfast host was cocky and could not be bothered to do any real work whilst two staff had to manage the entire dining room at the weekend. Tables were not cleaned. When we asked for a table for two he said there wasnt one even though there was about 6 just not been cleaned ( heaven forbid he should clean them !). so myself and my wife had to sit on a table for 8.
Staff not friendly and even when speaking to the reception staff it felt that you had entered the middle of an arguement. Fairly ok but substantially overpriced even for Oxford.
Fantastic weekend

I have to stay in various types of hotels for both personel and business reasons. i have stayed at the savoy , dorchester and even to holiday inn express over the years.
recently due to our son being in oxford univ my wife and i have been staying in various hotels in and around oxford and all i can say is the Cotswold is 1 of the nicest hotels i have stayed in.
i found the sevice and the attitude of all the staff to be exceptional, especially the manager of the restaurant who was woking late into the evening but also there 1st thing on the sunday morning, cheerful as ever.
the bedroom was old fashioned but my wife loves that. the courtyard was beautiful (maybe an issue in the summer nights!) but the room was very clean and bed comfortable. i would say the only down side was the noise from a function on sat night was still heard in the room but that was over by 11.
we found the meal in the restaurant to be excellent on the sat. night (the chef even made a stater for us not on menu!)
the breakfast was excellent and the staff were very accomodating on sunday morning making our stay most pleasurable.
i would have no hesitation in reccomending this hotel and i would even have a small conference at this venue
never mind a 3 star hotel i class this as 5 star

Stayed here for a one night as a trip away without the children.
As the title, the general theme of our stay was disappointing - I suppose I should have been warned by the time it took the receptionist to answer the phone when I first booked, but the web-site looked promising so I gave them the benefit of the doubt.
I'd booked an executive room in the hope of getting something nice. The room was big enough, but terribly dated in decor - nice if you like everything matching, even the cieling was wallpapered with the same design as the bedding - a long way from contempory! The bathroom was in need of some repair.
The service was not bad, but I sense that they don't need to try to hard and trade off their central Oxford location.
Restarant food was OK and breakfast good.
