lovely hotel !

My husband and I have just returned from a weekend stay at this hotel, I booked it for our first anniversary. After checking many reviews on other hotels. this seemed the best one, so I booked it, with a package that included champagne and flowers. (beautiful flowers in the room waiting for us). The hotel is lovely, in a lovely location and gorgeous views. The grounds of the hotel are kept really nice and gardens look beautiful. We had a 'garden view' room (?10 extra chage for this room), this was really nice, big room and very very clean. The staff are very friendly and will do anything to accommodate you. the food is excellent! very well presented and tasted delicious, cooked to perfection. We did try the pool, the only thing with the pool is, its very small, and oddly shaped at the bottom, short shallow floor which drops suddently to bout 6ft, some children were in the pool and they seemed to be happy with it. Has a small jaccuzi and a small sauna, turkish room. Would i stay here again...... yes definitely. The only thing I would comment on is if you book it, phone them as their website needs updating which they agreed with me. Hopefully next time the weather will be better for us, but then we were in the lake district!

Fantastic family weekend break

Stayed in one of the family rooms over a bank holiday weekend with two small children in tow. The staff could not have made us feel more welcome and the children loved the hunt for the bedroom!
The gardens are beautiful and the views just amazing.
We got a great rate on dinner, bed and breakfast and the evening meals were delicious and the children were also well catered for.
The hotel is also conveniently located to explore the North Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales and there are plenty of family activities nearby.
Highly recommended!!!!

As previous reviewer we have been using this Hotel over a number of years with various owners.
Have stayed in various rooms & on recent visit stayed in one of the refurbished ones in main building.
Agree that bathroom 'compact' but found it adequate for us.
Bedroom again not large but it had a huge bed which took up a lot of room - have stayed in worse so called 4* rooms elsewhere.
Food & service & staff all very nice, efficient & friendly.
The present owners have really made a good job of the place & the gardens are excellent - someone does a very good job there.
I also like the whisky selections as being a Scot am partial to a good 'Dram'!
All in all we rate the Manor as a very comfortable well run establishment as we stay in quite a selection of Hotels all over the World during our travels.

Have stayed here approx 3 times per year for the last 10yrs & been in various rooms.
Rooms in main building have all been refurbished so we tried one of them but they are nothing special compared to standard rooms in extension except for larger beds (which take up space) and a fancy wall mounted tv!
The bathrooms and rooms in extension are actually roomier than the so-called 'classier' room tried. Have found bathrooms in all main building rooms on the 'compact' side and prefer extension ones
Never the less it suits our purpose though a bit pricey now 4 Star and you do not get discount for length of stay, but there is a 10% discount as a previous guest.
Food and service good - especially sweets - new chef?
If you like malt whisky this is the place - ask TOM the owner.
